Talk Talk recently re-introduced a distinction between "National" and "Local" rates for residential customers.
Concern was expressed about the fact that many 03 numbers are used for locally provided services, notably the Metropolitan Police.
In response to these concerns, Talk Talk has now announced that with effect from 1 November all 03 numbers will be treated as if "Local", whenever the distinction applies.

Quote:Whilst UK numbers beginning 03 can belong to organisations across the UK, we realise that many only operate in a local area (e.g. Metropolitan Police on 0300 123 1212). We will therefore be charging for calls to all of these numbers as if they were a 'Local' call, and not a 'National' call.
I believe that this modest change should be chalked up as a campaigning success, for which we can all take credit.
