Title: PIPEX Customer Services
Post by Richard007 on Oct 26th, 2006 at 1:06pm
Its impossible to get through to PIPEX Customer Services.
I'm using the geographical number but I still have to wait in line, and seem to get cut off each time after 5 minutes of waiting. Highly irritating!

I'm wanting to end my subscription and close my account but can't until I get through to speak with someone. In the meantime, they're squeezing me of my money!!  >:(

anyone know how I can get to speak to someone there?

Sorry to say but you'll just have to sit on the line and wait, just like the rest of us have to. It may not be convenient but it isn't costing you much to sit & wait.

The next best thing you can do is to send them an email to get them to deal with your problem.

Sorry but NO MAGIC WAND.  (I'm in the same boat as they're my ISP also)   ::)

Title: PIPEX - Technical Support
Post by Akash on Feb 12th, 2007 at 6:59pm
Hello

The number listed for PIPEX technical support on the database does not appear to work.. asks me to dial an 0845 number, does anyone have an updated GN ?

Any help will be appreciated .. My BB hasnt been working for 3 months and I'm having to call them several times a day so this would be a real saver if there was on.

Cheers

The number you refer to is 01707 299509.

It is listed on the Pipex contact page as an international contact number. Perhaps the message is played for calls from the UK.  :-/

Perhaps it's another 01707 2995xx number.

Yes, its the same number. If you dial it, an automated response says "The number you have dialled has changed, please dial 0845 077 2455"

Word of advice to anyone thinking of moving to PIPEX.. DONT!!!! Some googling should help you realise why

They're obviously playing silly whatsits with the geographical numbers in an attempt to keep raking in the profits from the disguised premium rate number.  509 is still shown on the website and so is:

Quote:
Pipex Customer Services Contact Details
Email - General / Dial Enquiries
customerservices@pipex.net
Within UK Local Rate Telephone
0845 077 2455 / (0845 077 BILL)
Overseas Telephone 44 1707 299 507

It's likely they've just moved the 'point to' number to another in their group of 01707 299 5xx geographical numbers - it's just a question of finding it again.

Post by davesprite on Apr 25th, 2007 at 2:11pm
Adding 0845 to a "support" service that routinely keeps you waiting 30 minutes is insult on injury. I shall be no longer using Pipex but in the meantime, it's important that they don't get away with this. The geographical 0117 917 0000 no longer works.

Pipex Homecall have changed their number for Customer care to 0871 663 3300. It is not showing on the geographical Number search.

Just because the number has changed doesn't mean the underlying number has changed. Have you tried searching the database? There are a number of Pipex Homecall entries.

Where is the 0871 number given?

The website still gives the 0870 220 2112 number.

Thanks for the heads up on the new number. As I mentioned, I doubt the underlying number will change. If it does, please let us know though.

Post by standrews47 on Jan 19th, 2008 at 1:29pm
I normally use 01707 299507 to contact Pipex Customer Support (well there's a contradiction in itself), when I call it now, it states this number will be ceased from Feb 1 and the new number to call is 0871 222 5550, I cannot find a geographical number to match this new number, can anyone advise what it will be ?  thanks Paul

Considering Pipex is now part of Tiscali (and that number range - 0871 222 xxxx - is in use by some Tiscali numbers) I can only assume that the Pipex customer services is transferring to Tiscali instead. It might be worth calling Tiscali next time you need support and see if they will handle your request (lots of Tiscali alternatives in the database - if you can confirm some of the unconfirmed entries, that would be most appreciated).

Please let us know how you get on!

Tiscali have decided to dispose of the Pipex  UK call centers and staff many of whom have been with Pipex since 1991. Their reason, to save running costs a fine and loyal company Tiscali. Pipex staff are understandably beligerant and can for most part not be bothered with customer issues, can you blame them.

Pipex Main switchboard in Manchester 0161 451 1000  opt 3 ask for one on the following extensions

or  0800 781 7000   just ask whoever answers to connect you
or  0800 912 1642

Residential Telephone Customer care ext 15312
Residential Broadband care ext 25702
Residential Broadband Technical support 15122
Business Broadband Technical support ext 25701 and 11446
Business Telephone  and Business Broadband  ext 15070

Telephone Service Quality control Ext 12399
Welwyn Garden City Accounts dept  Ext 15072 or Broadband Accounts 25703
Legal Dept. ext 12172

For those existing customers that want a special price, ask for retentions on ext 25709
request a MAC  and hold out for the best deals.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Thanks for that. I suspect that some of those extensions can be dialled directly using the 0161 451xxxx prefix. Eg 0161 4515312 goes through to customer care, so I presume that I got straight through to ext 15312.

So we presume that those five-digit extensions beginning 2 are for Welwyn, which is 01707. So can they be dialled using 01707 299???  ?

I don't know, and I don't think it makes any difference to me and the OP - the same message is there.

I spent ages on the phone a couple of weeks ago, going around in circles between different call centres, and one thing that happened was Tiscali put me through to Homecall instead of Pipex Internet - where they all actually were, I'm only guessing from some of the remarks here, and it's bound to be more complicated ...

Plesae NOTE one and all !! Contrary to what has been stated above,

If you call 01707 299507, the message states -

If you have dialed 0870 240 3322, please note that this number will cease to be in operation as from 1st February and will be replaced by 0871 222 5550.

If you call 01707 299506, the message states -

If you have dialed 0870 870 6703, please note that this number will cease to be in operation as from 1st February and will be replaced by 0871 222 5550.

If you call 01707 299509, the message states -

The number you have dialed has changed. Please redial 0845 077 2455.

If you call 01707 299505, the message states -

If you have dialed 0870 6004454, please note that this number will cease to be in operation as from 1st February and will be replaced by 0800 781 7000.

My point is that the it is the NGN's that are changing. It DOES NOT state that the number called is changing. Unless we find out otherwise in the near future, the Geo alternatives are still working fine.

Note also, the Manchester office deals with Pipex Homecall and it's associated packages. They DO NOT deal with the PIPEX Broadband packages alone.
So contrary to what has been suggested in the posts above, calling the Manchester switchboard and asking for any of the departments mentioned WILL NOT help if you on a Pipex Broadband plan.

Can anyone tell me how to get throught to Pipex cancellations. I have emailed a dozen times without response, they should have cancelled my service at my previous address in November but it is still live.  Customer services say they cant put me through and I have to dial the 0870 number. I refuse to phone any 0870 numbers I have never phoned one yet and refuse to give custom to anyone using them.

Has anyone got any details of Pipex/Tiscali numbers? Most of the listed and unlisted numbers now do not work. I have tried many of them and it seems that if you are on Pipex Homecall you can get through to them but they cannot access  accounts with Pipex Max. There used to be a differentiator within the web name (.co.uk and .com) but that seems to have gone, too. Sure sign that Tiscali have taken over and are doing their normal stunts.

Good God !  Isn't the purpose of this site to campaign against 0870 numbers ?  If so then I am astonished at the gutless and complacent response made here by an official of the site !

You should, perhaps, note that that comment was made over two years ago.

As noted by Jgxenite, that entry was made two years ago and if you actually took the time to read it, the postee was calling a Geographic number, NOT an 0870 !!

Would you like to take your foot out of your mouth now ??  ::)

The high level complaint number 020 8495442 goes to Tiscali and they do not deal with Pipex complaints

Thanks Mike. I could really have used a number for making a High level complaint right now.  :-/

Just as a slight aside. 0871 222 5550 is ONLY 5p/min from a Pipex billed lines.

Hence, as I'm currently involved in a dispute for my son with Pipex Billing overcharging him for his Braodband Max, contacting Customer services is cheaper than calling from BT. Which is why, contrary to my normal practice of prefixing NGN's with 1280 to divert it to BT, I call them from my Pipex billed line.

I have seldom had a problem with Pipex Customer services except that they are in India. No, unlike my son, I don't have a problem with that. What is the problem is that they are remote from the Pipex Billing and other Pipex departments so all communication is by email. That would be OK if the other dep'ts actually read or replied to the emails and after over 2 months, emails & a dozen or more contact attempts through CS, it's getting really frustrating.

I've now bypassed them and gone through the Internet Services Providers' Association (ISPA UK) to contact them. The first attempt has failed to illicit any contact from Pipex Billing so I'm just sending the second complaint.

Anyone who has any direct contact numbers for making complaints, please let me know.

DaveM, have you looked at the posts I made above; replies #25, #26 and #27?

Unverified number for Richard Lawrence in High Level Complaints (possibly Tiscali) is 020 70872210.

Manchester numbers for Pipex and Pipex Homecall are also above. Pipex customer services can be contacted on 0161 4515154. Other numbers are available.

I think I'm in the same situation as others here. I just got a letter from Pipex saying I haven't paid, and to phone them on 0871 221 2212. Ringing the alternative 0161 or whatever I found on this site gets a recorded message saying the number has changed to 0871 663 3300. Cheeky so and so's!

On my credit card bills with the monthly Pipex payments, there's "Pipex Internet 0845 077 2455", but that just answers with "Please redial" but no suggestion as to which number I should redial on.

I checked with my credit card company and they haven't refused any payments, so it must be Pipex failing to correctly request the payment.

Trying the Pipex My Account page, there are options for changing my address, but no option for changing the payment method.

I'm reluctant to call the 0871 number, but on the other hand (because they're really irritatingly incompetent) I want to change ISP and I fear they won't give me the Migration Authorisation Code if I have an outstanding debt.

I guess I'll just grudgingly call...

It does appear that the number 0161 4515154 has been taken out of service since last week. I note 0161 4515041 which had a menu on with an option to leave Pipex last week is now unobtainable.  :-X

Try some of the other numbers I found. I've just tried a few and they answer "Pipex Homecall", even those which I listed as answering just "Pipex".

Please let us know what works as the number in the database needs replacing.

Tried this one a few times with NO success as it just goes to voicemail. Will try him again later. I never left a message, as with others, they never seem to bother getting back to you.

Dear all,

Wow! I thought it was only me that's going crazy with Pipex's incompetance! They took unauthorised money from my account and I've been trying to resolve the issue since December - reading these mails makes sense of it all.

I would like to cancel my account with them and the number they have given me is : 0871 222 6366 - does anyone know the geographical equivalent to this one?

I've read through these mails and I can't seem to find this particular one, so I'd really appreciate your help.

Many Thanks,

Andrea

They took unauthorised money from your bank account? If this was via the direct debit system, take it up with your bank and get a refund from the bank under the direct debit guarentee that all banks sign up to.

I grudgingly called this number today and requested my MAC, as I thought cancelling at my calling expense was the lesser of the 2 evils.

Sorry I can't help.

The original No. is 0870 6633300 and the alternative No. is 0161 451 5043 and the firm is Pipex Homecall (Tiscali).  I have also reported the full details to SAYNOTO0870.COM and await their reply.  My concern is that if all firms adopt this method of redirecting clients to 0870 numbers then SAYNOTO0870.COM will not be very effective.

[edit]This thread has been split off from another one. dendo says that 0161 451 5043 now refers to the 0871 number.[/edit]

Mmm, as you will see here http://www.moneysupermarket.com/COMMUNITY/forums/t/pipex-homecall-0870-rip-off-amp-atrocious-service-21655.aspx there may not be an alternative. However BT  have (from April 2008)   0800 and 0808 numbers to their various help desks, perhaps it is time to change?. I have been on their Broadband for 18 months now and have to say that I have not had any problems, in fact when the contract came up for renewal they gave me £3 a month discount for the next 12 months......... Just a thought. :)

Many thanks for the info.  Maybe I've been fortunate but I have experienced good service from my current ISP Pipex and Pipex Homecall Anytime.  In fact having looked at some of the forums on ISP's I would have to say I've been extremely fortunate!!  Please note that I've kept my line rental with B.T.

I look forward to a reply to my query sent to SAYNOTO0870.COM regarding the neat sidestepping of the alternative No. by Pipex Homecall but it would also be interesting to know if other 0870 firms are using the same subtle method of avoidance to alternative 01 Nos.

Thanks. I've now removed this number and replaced it with two other numbers which go straight through to customer services (maybe queued) without the menu. I have left the "Technical support" as it is for now. I would like to know whether the 020 numbers given are for customer care or technical support or both.

I am responding to you having read your forum post. Messages sent using the contact page and the support @ say no email address go to site admin.

As you can see, Pipex has been busy changing numbers as I drew up a long list of Manchester numbers (see here). The one you used was on that list and worked. If you call them, please don't tell them you called using a 01/02 number. It is also good practice to withhold your number with 141 if it is not done so automatically.

I have an arcane problem with Pipex,
(unable to log in from Turkey, their server/system fails to recognise either the "i"
or the undotted i present in the Turkish language, and on the keyboard).

Can get to ( Manilla, Phillipines-based, a first for me), Customer Service using the landline numbers but they are unable to transfer to Tech Support.

All the other numbers ask for landline number and route you to 0871 numbers (663 3300 or 222 3311).

Roll on October and my MAC request.

General point re Tiscali/Pipex: it is obvious there are loads of disgruntled people who object to the way they are now treated by Tiscali. I have learned that many if not all their staff in Manchester are being fired in September and the people who do answer the phone on the 0161 number are being "retained" merely to field calls and do the job to get the redundo, and who can blame them? I just have received another nonsensical "customer services" response which shows patently the new people answering these calls and letters (allegedly in the Phiilipine or even New Zealand!) know nothing.

Is there any way a "class" action or complaint be submitted to OFCOM (or whoever the regulator is now) based on the fact that when most of us contracted with Pipex it was a British company with proper service and telephone numbers. Having been taken over by a faceless company with apparently no proper UK offices and telephone numbers should we not have the right to terminate our agreement with them forthwith regardless of contract date because we are no longer receiving the level or quality of service which we signed up for? We must all learn to vote with our feet. In the US, 0800 service numbers are the norm.

Count me in for any Class Action.

Amazingly, having emailed Mary dot turner and her minions,
and told by email Tiscali/Pipex Customer service I was unable to access 0871 numbers, I received a call back.

The male Phillipino Tech Service Agent was able to offer a plausible solution to my problem.

Doesn't make up for losing the old 01707 Pipex tech service line though.

hello
Called Pipex today about a phone problem, trying to use numbers in alternative numbers database.  Most did not work, but got through on 02033028403.  After jumping through usual hoops the guy said I needed technical support, refused to transfer me, and said I should use the 0871 6633300 number.
However, I tried and got through on 02033028404.  Girl there was helpful, transferred me to Technical Support, and am now waiting for advice/result from them..........?
