Title: Loughborough University (Accomodation)
Post by Devalia on Oct 27th, 2004 at 3:34pm
Provided by Keycom, on registering given a 0870 number that goes direct to the extension. (extension number is used to dial internally free);

number is: 0870 147 ****
extension numbers are 4 digits long, from 3000-7000 (i think - ive seen numbers in this range)

Searching forums/site yielded no results for uni.. can anyone offer any advice?

Uni accommodation with 0870 phones in has been mentioned alot. I have to warn you that there may not be an alternative.

The Keycom system is used at other universities. Exeter has this system, a thread is here.

Is the 0870 number you posted a direct number to the extension? If so, can you edit the last few digits to ****, you never know whos reading this.

Try 01509 82****

This number was suggested by someone who mentioned Loughborough in another thread. If it works, please add it to the main database on the site.

Title: Loughborough Uni - Harry French Court Halls
Post by laz_za on Oct 1st, 2007 at 6:33pm
Hi, I am trying to find the number for the Harry French court halls at Loughborough Uni, where my daughter is living. It's an 0870 number /keycom. It says on this site that you can ring 01509 82 XXXX. unfortunately this doesn't seem to work. Does the phone have to be registered somewhere (?) first for that number to work? I would be most grateful for any info. It's absolutely criminal that they use these numbers. Many thanks

Are you dialling 01509 82 followed by the last four digits of the internal extension number? This may not be the same as the last four digits of the 0870 number. I have no idea whether she'd have to register it to use it, or whether she would need outgoing credit etc before incoming calls are allowed.

Hi Dave, thanks for the info. I am dailling 01509 82 with the 4 digits from her internal extension but it just rings the engaged tone - and no, she isn't on the phone! She registered the phone this morning, but it is still ringing engaged.

And what happens when you ring her 0870 number?

I can think of two possibilities:

1. The number has not been changed and has in fact been blocked from being called directly. Thus, we won't find another 01/02 number because there isn't one.

2. The number has been changed, but why is the old one engaged, rather than "not recognised" or "number unobtainable"?  :-?

What provider are you making your calls with?
