Title: Royal Mail Customer Services
Post by Shiggaddi on Oct 27th, 2004 at 8:27pm
I have just looked on the listings for Royal Mail, but this number isn't listed 08457 750 850.

It's the number to ring, to apply for the job as a postperson, in the Plymouth area, as advertised in the Evening Herald.

Does anyone know of the alternative number for this.  As this is to apply for a job, can't exactly go on about the subject too much to the person answering the call, as I'm expected to phone for a short telephone interview prior to being invited for a job interview!!

Anyway, I suppose a few mins to an 0845 number is a small price to pay, for (hopefully) a better job!!

No wonder the Royal Mail is losing money hand over fist.

Here they are, advertising for staff in the Plymouth area and, instead of asking potential recruits to phone a Plymouth 01752 number, they pay for an 0845 number.

I bet they'll come up with the ridiculous,  "..... an 0845 number is a convenient way for us to be accessible to all of our customers without penalising, in terms of telephone charges, those who live at a distance from our offices"  argument if challenged!

However, there are a couple of possibilities on this site:

1. 01752 387112    Business Customer Services; will transfer to req'd dept.
2. 01752 387116    Customer Services (residential)

As they're both Plymouth numbers, might be worth a try (particularly the first).

The number shown for Residential Customer services is wrong. It should be 01752 387112. The last digit is wrongly shown as 6, which is the International Redirections Department.

01752 387116 is at the top of the list and 01752 387112 is the number shown at the bottom of the list when you search the database for 'Royal Mail'.

I have just tried to call Royal Mail main Customer Services on the alternative number 01752 387112 listed on this excellent website, but they have got wise and now have a recording on it saying that the number is not in service and the call will be disconnected - and it is indeed promptly disconnected!  Does anyone have their NEW geographic number?  Royal Mail evidently don't want to lose the use of their little earner for their expensive contact number 08457 740 740.

That must the most mono-tonal, uninterested rood announcement I have ever heard!

"I'm sorry you've dialled an incorrect number. Your call will be disconnected."

You could try nearby numbers like 01752 387110.
