Title: 1p CC UNLIMITED USA Calls calling card.
Post by AradiaAjiin on Mar 8th, 2005 at 2:05pm
If you don't mind using a calling card... and call the USA  or Canada alot... like I do.  Then Nomi Calling card is the way to go.  From 9pm to 9am you get 1p connection charge for the call... you can stay on as long as you want... and don't get charged anything else.

Note: this is calling from an 0207 or 0208 number.

I wouldnt like to know the cost of these calling cards. Ive seen them around and there is always something else you pay for, like access to the 0800/0808 from phone boxes is very expesive with some cards, or still paying for the 01/02 call ontop (if one doesnt have free inclusives)

[glb]For calls at all times, call1899.co.uk's price for calls to USA, Canadian and German landlines is 3p connection and 0p per minute from ANY registered BT line. [/glb]

Using the calling card, you would need to pay 18866 the 2p to call the London number, then 1p from the calling card, which means 3p per call, plus the added disadvantage of paying 2p to hear an engaged tone, or nobody answer.

Using 1899 however, at 3p per call means no charge for engaged, or unanswered calls, and is available 24/7, and no need to pay up front for a calling card.

If however you do get free off peak landline calls, which in my case with Tele2, I don't have to pay a monthly fee, then the calling card sounds like a better bet, because the only cost is 1p per call, however remember if you like a long gossip some Telcos charge will start charging for the London number section of the call, after an hour, meaning you have to hang up, and use another penny.

I know we're only talking about savings of only a few pence here.  There were the dark ages of the telecoms industry when people would pay over £1 a minute, and run up £1000s ringing abroad calling destinations that are now only a few pence a call.

It's time to alter your red glow prefix Shiggaddi.

1899 now charge 0.5p/minute to call USA and Canada from a BT landlne (from a cable landline, they charge 1p/minute to Germany, Canada and the USA).

My red glow was copied from pud, who posted 2 posts before me.

Just looked up the stite myself, and indeed Germany is I think the only country which you only pay the 3p connection fee, with no per minute charge.

USA and Canada do charge 0.5p minute, so my argument about the calling card compared to 1899 goes out the window now, unless your call is only a couple of minutes!!

But that post was back in March - and we all know how quickly things change!

I like the way their web site splash screen still shouts "Plus LOADS of international destinations at an incredible 0p/min" ...

This must be a new definition of the word LOADS which I was not previously aware of. ;)

That certainly sounds like a good deal for the 2100-0900 calls.

For calls at all times, call1899.co.uk's price for calls to USA, Canadian and German landlines is 3p connection and 0p per minute from ANY registered BT line.

I wish I could call US for 0p a minute, but since im on NTL, that`ll not happen again for a while yet prolly.

And I'm sorry to say it's no longer true from BT landlines either - 1899 now charge ½p/minute to Germany and 1p/minute to Canada and USA (plus their usual 3p connection charge).

ooh goodie ;)

I really dont mind calling the states or there abouts for 1p a minute, I find it facinating and a joy to be able to call friends and rellies over there and brag about how much im paying..

Besides, anyone being able to know about "unlimited international calling" must know to use software like skype..

I do know of several companies that to so-called-unlimited calling, but thats at a cost per month, therefor it doesnt interest me, nor is it for this subject.
