Last week I tried the alternative BTbroadband number and found that it no longer existed and there was no option but the 0870 number. Today I tried Ikea, the number posted on this site and it too has been discontinued and an0845 number is given.

We'll find another alternative for the BTBroadband number, so don't fret.  :'(
You've got to admit that a change from 0870 to 0845 is a small start (though not a total success)

We are currently addressing some problems with the database showing out onto the web to search engines. As you may be aware, they update monthly (sometimes longer) so their current info was gained some time ago. Undoubtedly some of our members may be part of the organisations we hold numbers for, & will have been made aware that their numbers are compromised so will take steps to change them. They're probably watching us now  :-X

Further checks are ongoing to minimise the information bleed, but with further popularity comes retributions.

We're publicising the campaign. Both the telecoms providers and companies using the numbers will naturally like to keep this all hush hush. Whether they changed their number because of the Say no campaign, only they can say. They may have moved premises.

If we didn't have a database, we wouldn't be able to avoid this rip-off, but in avoiding the numbers and getting geographical numbers, we are putting the companies out when we are put through.

Requesting a call back is worth a try. If they want your business that much. Give them your own 087 NGN and make money from them.
