May I be so bold to suggest that before you make such a blatant statement, that you check your facts. Even the website noted the change and Google showed it as well.

That number was changed some time ago to 08705 747 747.

I expect that you were also the one that added it to the new numbers.   ::)

Sorry - i'm going on the directory which is clearly wrong, I didn't realise they had taken the others out of service - can't help then (and no I didn't add anything).

If someone had wanted something specific then I may have helped.

Does anyone know the landline number for Virgin Atlantic Flight Information 0871 984 0840 - i think Virgin is based in Crawley, West Sussex?

Don't post much but read the comments regularly.  Thought I would share this with everybody.  My daughter works for V.A.  Before she sets out on her trip to Heathrow she has to call in to check that the flight is leaving on time and there have been no problems with the inbound flight.  No problem there except the number she has to call is an 0870 number.  In addition all contact numbers for staff to the Virgin H.O. are 0844 numbers. I complained to a personnel manager as my phone bill was escalating and managed to get a geographic number.  However, I have been told this will only work for a short time as soon the main number is changing to 0844 and I assume they will then change their underlying geographic number.  It's one thing to rip your customers off, but to rip your staff off seems a step too far.

So all DDI numbers to the office will become 0844? What about us looking for the proper 01/02 numbers?

As a starting point, we have some VA 0844 412xxxx numbers in the database which are allocated to "Cable and Wireless (Energis)". The local code for VA is 01293 and CWE has one prefix: 01293 47.

01293 473121 says that the number is for Virgin Atlantic outgoing calls only and refers back to the 0870. So we have the starting point. Perhaps the original requestor will come back with some more information.

Try 01293 473000....... (as per 0870 5747747)

If you can provide some information, then perhaps we can work out how to convert the 0844 number to the 01293 number.

As you can see, there are quite a few numbers we had, until now, not uncovered. Perhaps you can provide the 0870 number she has to dial for info - see if we can find the 01293 number for it.

Most numbers say they are for outgoing calls only.

Sorry have not been able to obtain 0870/0844 numbers as my daughter is away-will post on her return.  The main Virgin switchboard is 01293 562345 and this is the number which is stated will change to a 0844 number in due course.  The number she has to dial to pick up details of her flights is 01293 473869, there is a non geo number which this relates to but have removed details from my phone as I have told her to only dial the geo number.  As stated will post non geo numbers when she gets back.

This is part of Virgin Atlantic Airways - it is the number to ring for assisted travel for disabilities. If you manage to find an alternative, others could use it in the future. Many thanks.

Virgin employees have a number that they can call to get discounted rates on Virgin Atlantic flights. The problem? It's an 0870 number. Alright, so you're probably still saving money on your actual flight, but that depends on how long you're on hold for. And whether or not you're actually in the UK. I have a UK discount but I don't currently live in the UK, so this 0870 number costs me a small fortune to dial - any discount I have is immediately out the window.

If someone can get the geographical number for this one  - 0870 145 4749 - I'd probably do a little dance in honour of them.

As per reply #7 above, VA have numbers in the range 01293 473xxx. The Virgin Staff Line is 01293 473994. Does that have a 0870/0871 number?

If you are an employee, can you shed light on the 0844 numbers that redant says VA now uses in its offices above?

Sadly I'm not an employee of Virgin Atlantic. I was part of the NTL/Virgin Media Credit Control team. I left the company recently but my Staff Benefits haven't expired yet. I do still have some friends who work within the company, so I'll put some feelers out and see if I can get some info for that other thread*.

I've mapped out all numbers 01293 473000 through to 3999 and these have been added to the above post. Most say they are for incoming calls only. It has revealed more alternatives to the published 0870/1 numbers, which are now all in the database (search for virgin atlantic).
