0870 2434477 is for United Kingdom Passport Service (High Street Partners)

What blank, blank is meant to be is beyond me, so can you please explain who or what it is you are trying to find  ::)

The pasport switch line brings out the worst in me.

Blank blank was what the site does when you swear,

I am after the land line or freephone number to chase a passport 08702434477 is their number

Is that what the "site does" or are the blanks to represent what you actually swear?

Another number I used and worked is 01633 473118 Steve Jones.
I have  at last found a human who actually does what he said.

As pointed out by dunce, the numbers for the Passport offices have been Got at.

I tested the Durham number & eventually found their Fax numbers, 0191 3707006 & 007 if they help anyone. I talked at length to a nice young lady there and was advised they have rerouted the switchboard numbers, so if anyone fancies looking for them, try from 7000 upwards - 7000 and 7001 both have redirection messages.

Peterborough switchboard 01733 888000 may still transfer you (if you're nice to them !) Don't complain to her; just be nice & ask for the appropriate dep't !  ;D

Hi there!

There are verified and unverified telephone numbers in the list.  Just enter Passport Office, and you should see a range of telephone numbers.

With regards to your original request, if you could supply the location of the particular office, no doubt with the right search, something may come.

Contact details for the Peterborough passport office, which processes postal applications (at least from London) are:

Phone:01733 888 004
Fax: 01733 888 226
email: peterborough@ukpa.gov.uk.

You can also ask for a callback, and put your question to them at the same time from:

Been directed to this thread - does anyone know the geographic (or extension?) number of the 24/7 call centre (not the regional offices)?

From my other thread; bit of background: -

Quote:
I am trying to apply for a passport and need to book an appointment in the London office. I have tried ringing the geographical numbers listed in the database (including the London one), but they can't seem to be able to help with booking my appointment (apparently it is done through a central call centre) and simply direct me to the 0870.

For obvious reasons, I don't wish to use the 0870, and also the very fact that there is about a minute or so of recorded guff that you can't skip so I am paying through the nose for crap I have heard all before, before I can get to the menu. I hate it when companies do this.

Does anyone know the geographical equivalent of the 0870 number for the call centre, and not the local offices (cos they don't seem to be terribly helpful, and ask me to ring the 0870 number)?

If anyone could share, then I would be most grateful.

Thank you.

I have tried all the alternative numbers listed for 0870 521 0410 under Passport, but they are either don't get me through or else when I do get to speak to a person they ask in which region I live.

When I tell them I live in Northern Ireland they refer me back to the 0870 521 0410 premium rate line.

The number listed for Bangor, Northern Ireland (028 9128 9060) is no longer valid, and the people that answer the Belfast number (028 9041 2400) refer me back to the 0870 number [smiley=angry.gif]

How can I avoid getting ripped off by the 0870 number?

Someone has added an entry for Passport Office saying that the Home Office's main number, 020 7035 4848, has a menu, of which Passport & Identity Office is option 4.

I just phoned him and he wouldn't help me, told me to ring the 0870 number.

Many thanks to Dave, DaveM or bbb_uk for so rapidly verifying the entry added for the Passport & Identity Service for their web callback service.

Although the web page for the callback service says it is only to do with calls about the online application form in reality queries about the online application form can be turned in to queries most people are likely to have about almost any aspect of applying for a Passport since the IPS only print out your completed online form and send it to you in the post for signature and the addition of a photo for you to then post back to them.

The number that called me back was a Bristol 0117 915 1900 number on my CLI but when dialled this is just an announcement message from Teleperformance apologising for the fact that they missed you when they called on behalf of a "blue chip" company and giving an address to email if you no longer wish to receive unsolicited calls from them on behalf of their clients.

So no wonder an 0870 number is being used by the IPS when the whole damned operation is clearly outsourced to Teleperformance and/or other similar third party call bureaux.  It has to be said that the lady who called me back from Teleperformance on behalf of the IPS was quite bright and helpful (not my experience of other Teleperformance Call Centre staff acting for other companies) but she still needed to refer my question about why the IPS requires proof of non standard titles (eg Dr, Major, Sir, Lord etc) on Passport Application forms when the Passport itself does not have a Title field at all elsewhere (i.e. to the IPS itself although she did not admit this or that she worked for Teleperformance rather than the IPS).

I got the impression that not many people use the web callback service so far as it is rather well hidden on their site so heaven knows how Teleperformance and/or the IPS will react if they suddenly start getting a lot more web callback requests.  But note that the callback I got was on a Saturday afternoon so you may find it convenient to make a web callback request in your office on Friday afternoon giving your home or mobile number for callback the following day.
