Or better still, you can go to the Silent CallGuard website and register online. Please Note: registration is for 12 months, and if you wish to stay on the list, simply re-register at the end of the 12 months.

You can also pass details of any silent calls to UK Data IT for further investigation.

Or you can register complaints with OFCOM about a silent call at their website.

I have been getting silent call several times a day from 02073 954698 I have already been registered with the telephone preference service for years but I understand you have to register separately for silent calls.

I went to the site and you have to call them to do this on 0870 4443969. Does anyone have a geo number for this? I know there is a geo number listed on here for the tps but this is a different number for reg for silent calls

The Silent CallGuard service is promoted by the TPS company, but has no proper relationship with the TPS itself. It has no formal relationship with Ofcom, not the ICO, nor is there any statutory force behind it. It is a purely commercial operation that is used by very few companies.

The SilentCallGuard service appears to be run by UKDataIT and you can apparently add your number here.

I'm not sure if this company is actually running the service or its a blag to get you to enter phone numbers - could someone verify and provide a source/proof (if poss)?

I suspect this is the correct site to register on but can't be absolutely certain.

Apparently,if you are registered with the TPS nobody should attempt to make an unsolicited direct marketing call to you. Whether such a call results in silence, a recorded message or speech makes no difference, in all cases regulation 21 of the PECR is breached.

So this service  doesnt seem to add any value.

Why does the TPS mention then about Silent CallGuard here.

Surely, it would mention on its website that if you're already registered with TPS then there is no need to ring Silent CallGuard!

Try the freephone number I posted above. Please give some feedback as to whether it's any good or not.  ;)

Dave the telephone number you posted has always had an answering machine whenever I've rang it at various times of day. It says no one can take the call and gives the 0870 number for anything to do with Silent Call Guard. You can leave a message, which I did. I left my telephone number again for silentcallguard stating that although I'd registered online I was still getting calls and could they please check my registration had gone through.

There was no conformation when registering online and because I have still been getting calls from the problem number I did call the number back but it says this telephone number does not take incoming calls... Seems rather unfair to be bombarded by these calls when I'm regustered with the TPS and Silent Call Guard

Why quibble over the cost of the 0870 number when you want an geographical number - it cost £12 to sign up for the year. If I could afford to pay £12 I wouldn't worry about the 50p to call them!

It is the practices associated with having non-geographic numbers that we "quibble" about. Yes, it may only cost 50p to call them, but they might be getting 25p of that without them telling you. Why should they be making money from your calls to them?
