Title: Ocado Ltd Post by domg on Apr 20th, 2005 at 5:08pm
Anyone know a landline # for OCADO -- instead of the 0845- number they give?
(there is also an +35- number given in the unverified list on this site, which works, but which is an Austrian number, which is extremely weird!!) ::) |
Title: Re: OCADO online shopping landline?? Post by DaveM on Apr 20th, 2005 at 5:13pm
It happens to be Ireland actually !! >:(
Have you tried ringing it ?? It's Customer services and contrary to popular misconception, they speak English ! :-/ |
Title: Re: OCADO online shopping landline?? Post by domg on Apr 20th, 2005 at 6:50pm
Ah ha! Sorry -- got my country prefixes mixed up! I *thought* they sounded Irish! ::)
That doesn't affect my request for a UK landline number however -- since calling Ireland on +35 is even more expensive than calling 0845. Incidentally, on the 0845 Ocado number, they all seem to be scots. This gets more confusing by the minute. |
Title: Re: OCADO online shopping landline?? Post by DaveM on Apr 20th, 2005 at 7:06pm
WRONG !!
The cost for calling them using 1899 is 3p connection then 1p/min. 3 strikes and your OUT !! ::) From their website . . . Ocado Customer Fulfillment Centre Gypsy Moth Avenue, Hatfield Business Park, Hatfield, AL10 9BD, UK Tel: 01707 228000 Fax: 01707 228122 |

...and Ireland with ratebuster.co.uk is 1p per min.

Title: Re: OCADO online shopping landline?? Post by domg on Apr 20th, 2005 at 7:22pm
Well, OK -- you (almost) win! ;D
But I STILL want a UK landline number because all my landline calls (BT option3) are free... |
Title: Re: OCADO online shopping landline?? Post by bigjohn on Apr 20th, 2005 at 7:55pm
8) 8) 8)
Domg. If you are keen on saving money have you ever thought about reducing your deal on BT to Option 1,and using a different supplier? BJ. |
Title: Re: OCADO online shopping landline?? Post by domg on Apr 20th, 2005 at 10:05pm
Yeah, in fact I have thought of that. You're right: maybe I should look at cheaper suppliers...
I do make a very great number of UK landline calls however, and with BT Option3 I'm paying a tiny fraction these days of what I used to. So any competitive option would have to offer me free landline calls -- and I wonder if the monthly difference between that & option3 (a few £?) is worth getting worked up about...? What *really* steams me up is the 0870 racket!! |
Title: Re: OCADO online shopping landline?? Post by domg on Apr 20th, 2005 at 10:10pm
I've just seen DaveM's #3 -- thanx! That was exactly what I wanted. And a landline fax # as a bonus!
RU going to add them to the Unverified List? brilliant -- d |

OCCADO -- the number you gave, DaveM, doesn't seem to answer in the evenings (Ocado Cust Svce is open till 11pm). This one does, though (also from their website)
Ocado Head Office Titan Court, 3 Bishop Square, Hatfield Business Park, Hatfield, AL10 9NE, UK tel: +44 (0) 1707 227800 fax: +44 (0) 1707 227999 Wow -- I seem to have actually scored one point ;) Thanks for the input guys. |

Title: OCADO customer service landline? Post by domg on Oct 26th, 2008 at 9:57pm
Can't find any alternative to the 0845 numbers for Ocado Customer Service. All the 01707- numbers are Head Office, and they won't put you through to the Ocado call centre.
This 0845 scam is becoming worse and worse -- and it seems that VERY few people, including e.g. those who work at the Ocado call centre, have any idea that an 0845 call costs 18p for 3 mins. |
Title: Re: OCADO customer service landline? Post by jrawle on Oct 26th, 2008 at 10:28pm
Have you tried the Irish number? You can dial it cheaply using various services (although, where are you calling from if 0845 costs 6p/min?) I know it's still far from ideal, though, as it costs something.
Also, have you tried contacting them via their website? http://www.ocado.com/webshop/getContactUs.do?contactUs=true Ocado have various numbers in Hatfield: Switchboard: 01707 228000 Recruitment: 01707 228111 Pam Ware: 01707 227978 Fax: 01707 227999 So it seems they have numbers in the range 22797x-22811x |
Title: Re: OCADO customer service landline? Post by domg on Oct 26th, 2008 at 10:39pm
Hi -- Thanks v much for the info.
0845 nos cost 6p setup charge + 4p/min = so 3 min 0845 call costs 18p. Yes, using e.g. 1899, the Irish number is a bit cheaper than 0845. But I don't want to pay anything for the privilege of telling Ocado that they have sent me the wrong goods! The 01707 nos are, as I already said, the Ocado Head Office & they won't (so far in my experience!) connect me to the CS Call Centre. So they are no use. jrawle wrote on Oct 26th, 2008 at 10:28pm:

Those 0845 call costs are a little out of date. There is a MUCH cheaper way of calling 0845 numbers. In any case, even BT never charges more than 2p/minute now (see HERE). |

Presumably you are a customer, so can't you log in and send a message via the website? They claim that's a "Really fast" way to contact them. You would also have something in writing then, which is usually better than just telling someone over the phone, of which you then have no record. |
Title: Re: OCADO customer service landline? Post by domg on Oct 27th, 2008 at 5:48pm
Thanks Heinz. You are quite right. I was given completely the wrong outdated information by a BT operator a couple of weeks ago (he told me 6p connection charge + 4p/min). The current 0845 cost appears to be 2p/min as you say (0.5p/min cheap rate), so a 3min call would cost 6p, not 18p.
However I am still confused: I phoned 100 four times just now, and all operators told me that 0845 price was 2p/min daytime rate, and that there was NO minumum charge or connection charge. Heinz's moneysavingexpert.com link below however gives the cost as 7p PLUS 2p/minute. Who is right? Of course whatever the answer doesn't completely solve the problem, because it still costs quite a lot to call Ocado CS! I can of course send a message via the website, or via email: but that means I have to be near a computer. In any case, the website CS is easy, but not fast. Talking to someone is often easiest, and usually best. I got thru to Ocado CS today on their Head Office number (01707 228000), but a few days ago another operator on the same number refused to transfer me, so it's not 100% reliable. I'll test some of the other 01707 numbers to see if they answer after 6pm, but I haven't found one yet. Heinz wrote on Oct 26th, 2008 at 10:54pm:

Well, you'd think it would be them wouldn't you? But it isn't. As per that 'HERE' link in my previous post, I pay 4p connection and ½p per minute whenever I have to call a 0845 number (via 18185's freephone gateway number). |

I've clicked on "reply" - hope that was right, I prefer to resurrect an old thread over starting an unnecessary duplicate missing the previous contributions, this is the exact topic. I've re-read the instructions...
I wanted to ring Ocado Customer Services (the internet delivery people, the address is below) to query my on-line account status. The Ocado customer services number I have is 0845 656 1234. It isn't in the saynoto0870 database. I understand that many BT (Option 3?) customers now get their 0845s and 0870s free. In my case (TalkTalk), many international numbers are free but 0845s and 0870s are not. In that case, I am better to ring abroad (e.g. Lufthansa on a geographical number in Germany) withholding my number using 141. What is "the Irish number"? It's not actually mentioned here! ;) |

I have found this on the 192 web site.
01707 227 800 01707 227 999 (fax) I don't know if works but worth giving it a try. This number has been given in previous replies on this thread. |
Title: Re: Ocado Ltd Post by jgxenite on Mar 2nd, 2009 at 10:16am
As with your BA request, please check the database! There are two numbers in there already - one for customer services in Ireland and one for the Ocado switchboard in the UK.

Sorry jgxenite, I always search here by number, now I know what to do if unsuccessful. To avoid other goonish posts, maybe you could insert the "patpending read the manual" ;) clause to highlight that an unsuccessful number search should be followed by a name search... hope there aren't too many darts in your monitor... ;) |
