It's a pity everyone on this site seems to be so rude and snappy.  there's not much point in the site if you cant key in a number and find the alternative.  I did not find any alternative to what I'd keyed in.  I do not see an alternative on google.  Quite simply, can one of you clever clogs just write down the alternative number in figures and post it on the site - if indeed you know it, after all that.

If you don't provide any information, then why should others help? They may have to find the same information which could and should have provided, such as address. People keep coming to this website and expect someone else to do the work for them.

I think that there is an alternative for you to use in the unverified list. It may well be a switchboard number, and, as it doesn't have a non-geo listed by it, it won't come up when you search using the 0845 number.

When searching, it is worth looking for the company name, even if you cannot find the non-geo you are after. Some companies have many non-geo numbers that do the same thing, and it would therefore be impossible/impractical to list them all. Some companies may also have switchboard(s) numbers listed, which would obviously be worth trying and asking them to put you through.

If you look under 'Scottish Gas' you will find it.

It wasn't being rude - merely pointing to the shortcomings in your method  :-/

The truth is out there (somewhere). . .

. . . and if you look under Scottish Gas in our main database, there's the entry for the Meter reading on their website and also their phone number, but it's not under the 0845 number you gave !   ::)

In actual fact it was by me, but don't let that stop you from begging my forgiveness, thanking me or anything like that !

This site is a service assisted by the likes of myself, Dave and Daniel (not necessarily in that order) and numerous other unsung heroes that help find information, again often anonymously. We do this job voluntarily, unpaid and occasionally we get just a little satisfaction in having helped someone.

[glb]Please note[/glb]  I didn't get that feeling of satisfaction on this occasion !!   >:(

Thank you Dave.  I suppose I must apologise.  Like the rest of you (presumably), I feel very strongly - about these 0870 scams particularly - and always contirbute any information I can to this website's database.  I particularly like finding out the true numbers for bank branches which try to channel you through their awful call centres, where no one knows anything and, after an expensive call, they end up putting you through to the branch in the end.
