Tesco Mobile is a joint venture with 02.Customer Service Centre is in Bury.Lancs
Can only come up with 0845 900 1010 so far.At least it halves the price if it works.Let us know how you get on. |

Does anyone know (I know this is slightly off subject) if calls TO a Tesco Mobile from a Landline cost the same as phoning an O2 mobile from a landline?
Or are the costs different? If so, what are they or how do I find out, because I nearly bought a tesco mob but then didn't on the grounds that nobody could tell me how much calls TO the mobile would be charged at. |

If you know the first 5 digits, check the cost (from a BT landline) HERE.

If Tesco Mobile uses the O2 network, then they will be charged (from a landline) the same as to an O2 mobile. Calls from landlines are charged according to the number prefix (ie, which network operator it is allocated to). So when numbers are ported to another network, it still costs the same as phoning the old network when calling from a landline. |
Title: Re: Tesco Mobile Post by bigjohn on May 9th, 2005 at 9:37pm
Tesco M is a virtual network, piggy backing on O2.As Easy Mobile, and Virgin do on T Mobile.
As Dave points out calls are charged as if you are ringing the real network.Unless the number was ported from another network. |
Title: Re: Tesco Mobile Post by chrism on May 9th, 2005 at 10:05pm
Calls to all networks are 20p/min also same to any landline anytime of day or night.
But you can niminate 3 numbers for 50% reduction 10p/min and 5p/txt or look at www.tescomobile.com |
Title: Re: Tesco Mobile Post by bigjohn on May 9th, 2005 at 10:46pm
Thanks Chris M but Smasher was asking about calls to the network, not from.
Do you know how much they charge to ring 0870 numbers,is this 20p a min or more? |
Title: Re: Tesco Mobile Post by Smasher on May 9th, 2005 at 10:50pm
Thanks for that everyone... really appreciate it!
But just as I was about to dash to Tesco and buy a sim card, I noticed Onetel's "Freecaller" offer - if you have landline with them (not necessarily Line Rental) and a pay monthly mobile, from £5 per month, all calls between the mobile and landline and other mobiles on the same account are free for life. See the offer for yourselves and decide if really is too good to be true! http://www.onetel.co.uk/index.php/freecaller |
Title: Re: Tesco Mobile Post by bigjohn on May 9th, 2005 at 11:22pm
Yep but you are tied to a contract for a year and the cross network calls are high 40p a min!
Have you had a chance to look at the EasyMobile sim offer. You pay a fiver and get ten pounds of calls, and you can still pick a good no,and the rates are better then Tesco,or anyone else come to that. |
Title: Re: Tesco Mobile Post by Smasher on May 9th, 2005 at 11:36pm
I had a look at Easymobile, but was a little wary of their super-uber-cheap call rates... does anyone here have Easymobile because if so that would be a little more reassuring. :-/
I also wonder if it's possible to somehow get two sim cards to work in a single mobile handset, using an adaptor maybe? ??? I ask about having two sim cards because Orange have some very competitive offers, including the TRY promotions and 2 for 1 cinema tickets on Wednesdays... |
Title: Re: Tesco Mobile Post by bigjohn on May 9th, 2005 at 11:49pm
I am using Easy M at the mo, and the rates are correct. But there is some interesting reading on
www.mobile expert.co.uk about there lack of customers. You can still get twin sim card holders to go in some phones.Try a good accessory shop. |
Title: Re: Tesco Mobile Post by Smasher on May 10th, 2005 at 9:47am
Noticed that Onetel offer to pay the unlocking fee from your old network! :-) My phone is locked to Orange at the moment and apparently as it's a Sagem MyX-7 it's a bugger to unlock the "dodgy way" ;)

This thread was started 16 months ago by chrism who posed a question concerning whether anyone knew of a geographic number for Tesco Mobile in order that we do not have to pay the expensive 0870 or 0845 rates.
We have got onto some other interesting subjects but have still got no closer to answering the question. Surely there must be someone out there who works for TescoMobile who can come up with an alternative geographic number. Unless anyone can come up with an alternative, all I can suggest is to phone them at the weekend using 18185, which will cost you 1p a minute to the 0870 9004455 or 0.5p a minute to the 0845 9001010 number. |
Title: Re: Tesco Mobile Post by orsonkart on Sep 13th, 2006 at 11:59pm
Or ring them from your handset if you can , on 4455 at 20p a call, and if the problem is of their making, ask them for a credit. :)

You can actually make calls on the Tesco Mobile PAYG network for the equivalent of just 8.6p a minute. For further details see the thread http://www.saynoto0870.com/cgi-bin/forum/YaBB.cgi?num=1158187969

Title: Re: Tesco Mobile Post by BalmPot on Nov 6th, 2006 at 5:12pm
Tesco contacted me regarding a phone I wanted to cancel, when I hung up I dialed 1471 to retrieve 01270 755000 now listed on sayno… which I consequently entered. I phoned them up at the weekend and to my surprise another company answered the phone. Tesco reroute there calls through them sometimes so be aware to make sure that if and when you do call 01270 755000 don’t phone during the weekends and make sure to call between 9am-5pm weekdays. My pleasure, you’re more than welcome. I’m not sure but I think you might be able to reroute 0845 077 0066 too. This is the number that came with my invoice.
