I know that is Wood a new member,but the posting rules are for all new and old. They cant be any more clearer can they.He doesnt even  bother to give us the ngn  in the original posting.If requestors cant be bothered to post the basic information, why should  we be bothered to help them. What does mc661 mean by my "post count"? Is it to do with the kilometre posts at the side of motorways?

This septuagenarian has only been on the web for a few months and finds it all very difficult.

Did you know that using local toll plazas on the M6 toll gives a discount of £1 compared with the main toll plazas? The same journey in opposite directions in the same car, both at the daytime rate, was £3 one way and £2 the other. The rates went up on June 14.

What's the difference between Local toll plazas and main toll plazas? ???

I ask because I may consider a journey on it if I can't travel early in the morning on the normal M6 which is paid for by my tax and fuel duty etc.

Good question. And I agree about taxes. I've just e-mailed Midland Expressway complaining that their website obscures the discount and where the plazas are. I think the local ones are at exits only. You experts may have more success than me in navigating their site, enlarging their grotty maps etc.

We joined at T4 (A5), left at T8 for the A460 & M54 and paid £3 at Great Wryley main plaza, between T6 & T7. In reverse we paid £2 at T5 local plaza. Since 14 June it is 50p more.

The main plazas are shown on my road atlas (AA 2005 maxi scale) as a line across the road, but I think they do not all charge in both directions.

We need to be told. The locations must have been chosen by a clever IT b*gger. May change my id to grumpy old man.

The local plazas are at T3, T4, T5 and T6. Believe they are on exits only.

The main plazas are at Great Wryley (westbound) between T6 & T7, and Weeford Park (southbound) between T4 & T3.

That wasn't too hard after all. This info unconfirmed. E&OE. What we need is a hardened toller to put me right.

There is no need for your facetious comments,and the dig at me.I do appreciate that if you are a newcomer to the WWW it aint easy.But if you post as much info,as you know in the first place you will find that members of this site will go out of there way to help people find  alternative geo numbers.

Searching various sources for you, from the full information that you have now supplied, i can tell you that the alternative number is 01534 26 7000.Let us know how you get on,so it can be added to the verified list .

Midland Expressway do respond to e-mails, and my original query (why the difference in charge for the same journey in two directions?) is resolved.

But it would be nice to have a geog no, for the greater good.

Do you have means of tracing another alternative?
