Title: Unable to Create Shortcut ! Post by longhotsummer on Jul 6th, 2005 at 1:18pm
Why won't the Site let me right click to 'Create Shortcut'? The removal of this facility makes it more difficult for users to access the site. In addition, it deters users from returning. Why?

Hi, thanks for your prompt response. On the Home Page. Normally, one right clicks on a Home Page, to open a drop-down menu, which includes the option, 'Create Shortcut'. One can click anywhere on 'your' Home Page and no drop-down menu appears.

What browser is this guy using? Right click for "Shortcut", surely not on web site pages or applications of any sort? Again if you have IE perhaps but not with many other browsers.

I assume Daniel has done this for a reason!
A way around this is to create a shortcut from this page you are viewing now. Then go to the icon on your desktop and right-click and click on Properties to bring up the shortcut properties. In the 'URL' field delete everything everything and copy the following and paste it into the 'URL' field of the shortcut:- http://www.saynoto0870.com/ PS: The easiest way to copy this link is to right-click on the above link and then left click on 'Copy Shortcut' (assuming IE is being used). |

Has one perhaps tried to use "Ctrl B" instead to create a Bookmark !?
I'm assuming here that you are attempting to Bookmark the Home page !? ::) |

I think he/she's actually trying to create a shortcut to this saynoto0870 homepage on his/her desktop (or possibly even from the start menu if wanted).

This was started in Right Click Disabled thread. If you are using Internet Explorer and right-click is disabled, can you do Favorites -> Add to Favorites? This isn't a problem in some other browsers. You may like to try Mozilla Firefox. |

Doing a right-click and 'Create Shortcut' just places an icon on the desktop of the URL (webpage) the shortcut was created from. It is this that can't easily be done from main site but can be done from the forum itself. It could be he/she does mean right-click 'Create Favourite' in which case this can be done easily as mentioned by yourself and DaveM. |

So you can add it to your favorites and then drag it to the desktop. |

May help...If you down-load the Avant Browser which is freeware and dead easy to install. Then you can use the Autofill feature where one click will bring up the page with your password already filled in, thereby getting you logged-in in about 3 seconds flat. Short cut inc. It works, honest.
