Bestminutes part of the 1899/18866  familiy , indirect access no 0871 999 63 63 just 10p a min at all times.(But you are charged as soon as you ring it) so if you get no answer a min call charge would apply.

That may be true.

The reason is because of the arrangements between foreign telcos and UK Telcos.

In the UK mobile phone companies charge BT, and other providers for access to their customers phone, in the same way as 0870.  However unlike 0870, they don't pay rebates to customers.  Also, because of this income the mobile companies receive, they don't charge the receiver for the call (well not yet anyway!!)

The Spanish mobile companies might be the same, and charge alot for access, and do similair deals as the UK, with inclusive minutes, and no charge to receive calls.

In America, it costs the same as a local call, and is sometimes free for the caller, but the person answering their mobile, sometimes has to pay to receive that call.  Therefore the reason why in Malaysia and Costa Rica, that it's cheap to call, might be the way mobile customers pay for their mobiles and call packages as well.

Hi

Another indirect access number is 0905 306 7304 which costs 15p per minute but there is also a 10p connection charge per call... It's provided by Just-Dial.

Calling Spanish mobiles from overseas is not cheap because all the Spanish mobile operators form a tripartite cartel and are asking the same racketeering rates for uk networks to connect to them.

Liechtenstein mobiles are much cheaper to call from the uk and still work in Spain with no incoming call charge.

Just Dial's price is still only about a third of BT per minute price.

:)

Since when has it been news that basically no BT Retail call price is a competitive or attractive one.  BT Retail just add 25p per minute to all their standard published international BT Together rates for mobiles.  They don't even publish an actual table with the international mobile call rates in.

This 25p surcharge is obviously especially unfair to countries with fundamentally cheap call charges.  But it seems that BT haven't heard of percentage markups on stock.  I expect that would be too complicated for them.

As usual the slumberers at Ofcom continue to hope that the market will sort it all out for them.  But as competitition in the international mobile marketplace is anything but free, fair and transparent it does not.

Is this thread for cheap calls or Just-Dial affiliate spam?
