Have you had a look at the PCC website?
|
Title: Re: Plymouth City Council Parking Fine payment lin Post by dave1216 on Jul 16th, 2005 at 5:43pm
yes:
http://www.plymouth.gov.uk/homepage/yourcouncil/transportandstreets/parking/ The geographic numbers listed there are not the numbers i need. PCC have outsourced there admin to a compnay named 'Vertex' based in scotland (thats where the 0845 leads) |

Well why didnt you say that in the first place. Please read the notes about posting a request for a geographical no.

That sort of attitude want get you anywhere on this site.We do try and help people that help themselves. If you give us as much info as you possibly can in the first place.Eg Address where calls answered.Website if any.Geographical Fax No if known. etc etc ( The fact that the numbers on the PCC website are no good would have been helpful.) We dont know the alternative to every ngn number, we do do have to carry out some research to help people, and the more info you can give us to go on, will help us to help you.

There's no need to get on your high horse and give me attitude. If you don't know the answer, just don't reply.
It goes with out saying that i checked the website, it's not difficult to find "plymouth council parking" finds it first hit As i said, if you don't know the answer - don't reply. |

I'm certainly not going to kiss the ground you or BJ walk on. There was no need for BJ’s attitude. The response I made to BJ was comparative to his. I stand by what I said.
I suggest this thread is now locked as clearly nobody here knows the answer and it's a waste of everybody’s time to have childish rants. Furthermore, I’ve already found the answer and I doubt I’ll ask for assistance in the future as you have been of no help. However, i have found saynoto0870.com very useful over the past year and will continue to use it. But I doubt I’ll visit the forum again. As a new user to the forum - i have found you rude, unhelpful but most of all unwelcoming. Please refrain from replying to this post as it will only show that you are being petty and clearly childish. |

I have to agree with BJ and DaveM.
We are all volunteers and have lives and in our spare time help people out the best we can in finding geographical numbers. What BJ asked was a legitimate question and does make our jobs in finding an alternative a little easier. Unfortunately, we don't just have a geographical for every 0845/0870 (wish we did though) so we do have to a lot of searching and looking at several websites, searching several DQ's, etc and sometimes it can take in excess of 15minutes to do a proper search through all the different ways of trying to find a geographical number. This time obviously increases if we're told very little from the start. For example, in the thread below this one (the Holiday Inn Hotel), Dave had posted the address and with that I managed to find two geographicals fax numbers and tried ringing neighbouring numbers to see if one was their number. Searched through all our usual ways of trying to get geographicals but unfortunately though I weren't able to get a geographical - only a possible geographical but unfortunately there is a digit missing (due to a typo on the website I found it on). All this took in excess of 20mins. UPDATE: That website from PCC you quoted does not say that they outsource their company to Vortex therefore that information would have been handy at the beginning. |

bbb_uk, your post is both helpful and constructive. It's a pity BJ and Cruz's post (which has disappeared) wasn't posted in the same manner.
The update of information i gave i only found out after the initial post. The only information i had then was their website - which in hindsight i should have included. Perhaps if the initial posters could have been more polite then the heated part of this discussion could have been avoided. I do appreciate all your work and can understand how it can get frustrating. Regards, Dave |

Then perhaps you wouldnt mind sharing the answer with everybody else.So it can be listed as an alternative on the site in case someone else should need it. |

BJ,
When you apoligise for your previous attitude, i will glady oblige. I need to call it Monday to confirm it's correct. Regards, Dave |

On a lighter note, as Dave1216 is either from the Plymouth area, or was on holiday there, did you or anyone else see the boat race on the Hoe. A good display don't you think?
As for Plymouth City Council, they are a bunch of con artists. Two years ago, when Labour got in, they decided to charge for Sunday parking, but couldn't change all the car park pay and display tariffs at once, so they employed extra parking attendants to give everyone without a parking ticket a fine. Naturally those who appealed won, on the grounds that the notice board said free parking on Sunday, but they banked on the many more, who didn't complain to raise extra revenue. Very underhand don't you think!! Don't know whats worse, that, or the 0870 scam!! |
Title: Re: Plymouth City Council Parking Fine payment lin Post by dave1216 on Jul 17th, 2005 at 7:50pm
I was visting my borther-in law. I had a vistor permit on display!
So sorry i didn't see the boat race, was it good? I don't know if this is widespread, but plymouth city council gave a friend on mine a summons for council tax. He was a full time student living at an address that had somebody who wasn't council tax exempt (seperate lodgers!). The person liable refused to pay, so my friend had to pay there whole bill as there name was registerd with the council first! I think next time, i'll stay in my home county! |
Title: Re: Plymouth City Council Parking Fine payment lin Post by Shiggaddi on Jul 17th, 2005 at 10:11pm
The boat race was really good. Didn't know who was winning etc as I lost track, and didn't know it was the last lap until they crossed the finish then stopped, lol.
Well, I'm not actually in Plymouth myself, but in the next town, and over the border into Cornwall. However I do need to rely on Plymouth for going to work, entertainment and shopping etc, so although I didn't have a say on their local council being voted in, the people that have to live with their decision are not just Plymouth residents, but also from Saltash, Callington, Liskeard, Ivybridge, Tavistock, Looe, Torpoint, and all the smaller villages as well. |
Title: Call Centre Post by BBAY on Oct 18th, 2007 at 4:47pm
Hi,
I'm new to using forum so this may have been answered in the past. Plymouth City Council (Penalty Parking Charges) have 0845 3000 600 as their number. I couldn't find it on the 'Say No' site so asked them what their landline alternative is. I was told it was a 'call centre' and that there was no geographical number. Is this true of call centres? Surely there must be an alternative? It's a pain to be charged for complaining about a parking ticket you shouldn't have to begin with. They don't even accept e-mail- letters only. |
Title: Re: Call Centre Post by sherbert on Oct 18th, 2007 at 5:41pm
If it is Plymouth council that has issued the parking ticket ring this number 01752 668000 and ask them to put you through. If they give you an 08 number to ring, just say your telephone does not allow you to dial 08 numbers. Remember to hide your call first by dialling 141 first.
