Title: BT PaperJet Helpline Post by sher on Aug 12th, 2005 at 7:02am
???
Hi folks. My BT PaperJet fax has broken down and the only Helpline number listed in the User Guide that came with it is 0870 240 8026. Can anyone suggest an alternative? Thanks |

I (like most support staff) could resort to asking if you've RTBM, for the rest of the information we need ! ::)
On what you've given us, I can tell you only one thing - the helpline is as you say, 0870 240 8026. We need to know a lot more like which model of fax and who it is made by (originally, not the pretty badge on the front). Most of these are available from the User Manual (Hint: Try the last page !). As I can see you are a newcomer to our Forums, have you seen and read the post at the top of this one entitled ** PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING A NUMBER REQUEST **, which gives a lot of useful information on how you need to provide information for us to assist you, and how to go about finding it. Once we have that important info, we can TRY to assist you better. We are not magicians, psychics, etc. and we don't have a massive book with access to millions of alternative numbers. We just know where to look at publically available informaton on the web, and what questions to ask people when we are able. Other skills are also helpful but most of it comes down to what information's available out there. :o |

I talked to a repair agent and they said it was an Olivetti with BT electronic bits !
Did you get an error code ? Or is it a broken part ? If it's either of them, let us know, as the repair agents will be able to assist you, probably over the phone. ;D |

Olivetti head office (new phone no. 01908 547980) put me through only to two successive voicemails when I asked for fax support.
I'm getting an error message ("check print head") and although BT have helped me on their 0870 number, they kept me waiting for ages. A repair agent would help, I'm sure. Thanks. p.s. yes, i have rtfm |

(I was polite & inferred the B* Manual !!) :P
I found PCC Ltd on 01992 462882 who might be able to help you. If you mention to the girl that I rang & enquired earlier she may be able to pass you on to their support team, and if it's out of warranty (you didn't say) maybe supply replacement parts. The generic bits are the easy ones to replace. The BT parts will have to come from the BT source. Let us know if you get on OK. ;D |

I have a BT Paperjet and the number for service contact helpline is 0845 0520052 not a geo number I know, but better than 0870, I have rung them on Saturdays (cheaper) and found them very helpful even when machine came out of warranty.

Dear Derrick, DaveM and Dave
Thanks so much for your help in various ways. My main problem was that the starter cartridge for the fax machine only printed 16 fax pages before giving up the ghost. When I refilled it I got an error message. I now know, thanks to you, that BT made the electronics to the machine, so probably set it ensuring it couldn't be refilled and hoping I'd be stupid enough to order a new £60 cartridge from their 0870 number every time (in fact I ordered from Viking office equipment online at half the price). Just want to say this is a completely fabby site as I've recevied so many bits of info that are really helpful to me as a consumer (and as a freelance-working single mum of a three-year-old I just don't have time or money to do all the chasing/sourcing etc myself). Love you all Sher |
