Title: Q: Telecos that have Local & National rates?
Post by PeDaSp on Aug 21st, 2005 at 11:51am
The latest COI guidelines still refer to Local and National rates. As do many companies and replies to FOI requests.

But I can't find ANY telcos that now distinguish between Local and National rate. (Apart from BT on low-user scheme).

It would be useful ammunition to be able to claim that this Local/National rate has disappeared.

Is this true?

Does anyone know of any telco that still has local/national rates?

NTL freedom on a BT line do have some distinction between local and national rate.  I believe that on one of their broadband packages, they offer free weekend calls to local numbers, but on most of their packages, they list National, and local in separate columns, but the rate is exactly the same.

Try www.magsys.co.uk for residential tariffs -- there are still a few which charge less for a local call than for a national call (and more for an 0845/0870 call than for either).
