Title: Blocks on calls from domestic nos. Post by Phillip21 on Aug 22nd, 2005 at 11:54am
I used one of the geographical alternatives to an 0845 number, dialling from my UK landline, and received a recorded message saying that the number was only for international calls. There must be some way call centres can block domestic calls. Has anyone found a way round this?

Was your number withheld (141) and failing that, have you tried from your mobile with number withheld?

Which number was it that you tried to call as a matter of interest ? ::)

If this isn't based on CLID, then this could cause quite a problem, even for certain callers from outside the UK. For example, when I'm outside the UK, I often use VOIP to call back to the UK. Some VOIP providers don't support NGNs. This would make the organisation inaccessible from outside the UK.

DaveM. National rail enquiries 0207 278 5240 has this device on it,but its ok if you dial from a mobile. However you can dial the alternative 0191 numberand get through. If i recall correctly there was a discussion about this approx 3 months ago. |

It was indeed NRI that I tried, but I'm sure there will be others. I did try dialling 141 but no joy.

Easyjet's 0870 600 9696 does not let you call it from within the uk and only from overseas :o. They want uk callers to call their 0871 number or even their 0906 number for bookings or internet technical enquiries. |

No, no it was Lousyjet that I was in fact referring to. I think Sleasyjet is another name for RyanAir? ;D |

Perhaps EUJet made the mistake of wasting resources on actually responding to customer complaints ;)
Or perhaps they didn't only take on staff who had been fired by MacDonalds the previous week. Lucky escape there. My sister lives in Kent and nearly booked with them to go to Palma this year. She only didn't because their prices were too high and the days weren't very convenient. They went bust a week before she was due to travel. Lousyjet's only redeeming feature being that they haven't so far gone bust. Also unlike me she books 6 months ahead. |

McDonalds staff are cool. In that they dont answer back, dont moan, mostly cant speak a word of english, accept to be paid rubbish wages.
Oh and McDonalds gives them free clothes (uniform), which doesnt have to be paid for! |

Answering back in the most rude and cheeky customer crunching fashion possible does seem to be a key attribute of Lousyjet staff. It beats me how they keep on growing. I can only assume the general public are both stupid (i.e. they believe untrue marketing that claims Easyjet fares are cheap when they are mainly not) and are masochistic (staff abuse of customers) all at the same time. |

The Lousyjet Kiosk seems to be run by the Federation of Heart Attack Specialists. They abolished the sandwiches when I last travelled with them in June last year to Palma. They only have kit cats, peanuts and Pepperonis. Not a piece of fruit or vegetation in sight. How do you work out the free bit? Do you mean as its not worth buying you don't bother. Ryanair actually have quite reasonable in flight food even though you do have to pay for it. |
