Title: Least Cost Routing Device? Post by farci on Sep 5th, 2005 at 8:05pm
I've heard about a box you can buy into which you programme different providers' call charges.
The box then chooses the most economical routing for that destination/time period etc. Anybody know if this is a practical proposition for a small business user like me? |

It depends on how many lines you have!
If its small as in one line then the v4 Orchid Dialler from Orchid Electronics would do you (see here), alternatively, they also do a small PABX here. To contact them see this page. Also, if you are going to order from Orchid Electronics then you can claim 20% off if you order online - see MSE Forum here for more information. |

Thanks, bbb.
I've ordered a unit using the MSE 20% discount and I'll report back here for the information of others |

After some delay (my fault) I programmed the V4 dialler from http://www.orchid-electronics.com/Diallers/v4.htm using their software. With great help from Orchid's tech support I managed it :). I think it's worth it. The dialler now automatically routes each call in the cheapest way by destination and by time of day. Even those pesky 0870/0845 numbers are now only 'orribly overpriced rather than wallet busting! |

What do you consider to be the cheapest way to divert your calls using the dialer?

I have Tele2 as my CPS plus 1899 + 18185 plus of course BT Option 1. Taking my normal call pattern I have programmed the dialler to select whichever one of these carriers offers the best rate eg. USA=18185, national even/weekend=Tele2 Medium User, in different charging periods. Any further suggestions would be appreciated, thanks |
