Expecting to be on the phone to these quite a lot, anyone got a geo number for the helpline?

A few numbers come up:-

In the unverified list, 0207 2103613, comes up which is head office.

A 192.com search comes up with 0117 906 5200 which isn't the helpline but probably a regional office.

Alternatively, their regional offices here all use geographical numbers except for one which doesn't list a number at all.

My first thought would be (if possible) use a regional office near yourself.

Update:

A further check revealed that prior to November 2002, they only listed regional offices/numbers but since after this date they must have setup a national helpline.  As they appear to have set this up and used a 0845 number right from the beginning then its hard to find a geographical especially without knowing where the helpline is based.  Is it London in the h/o?  It is possible the 0845 is routed to more than one location due to the high number of calls they get.

Thanks for that, it does seem however that they don't like you calling the regional office number for advice, so the 0845 number it'll be - just won't call em from my mobile. Could pop back into work whilst suspended and give em a shout though!!!

If you have to dial 0845 at peak rate use the dial through access number 0844 462 68 68  at 2p a min from a landline. Its also included in 02,s inclusive minute on most of their contracts.(Note if you are not connected a min call charge still applies).

Title: ACAS numbers in database no good
Post by derrick on Jun 19th, 2008 at 10:18am
I have just tried to call ACAS on the 020 72103613 and am told it is only head office/admin and I will need to call the 0845 number, they cannot/will not put me through.

I tried the 0161 8338500 Manchester number and am told the same "call the 0845 number we are only admin and cannot help".

So there appears to be no geo number in place of the 08457 474747, unless someone knows different!

I've amended the database entry to say that they might redirect you to the 0845 number and a link referring to this thread.

I have just received this reply after asking for the geo number re the FOI, it took a few weeks, but here it is; -

Hello Mr ******

The geographical number that is underlying the NGN number; - 08457 47 47 47 is 01256 730960

Steve Williams.

So can someone add it to the database, I haven't tried it yet, but as it comes from ACAS I would assume it is correct.

OK I have just tried it and it puts you through to the ACAS helpline, I was put in a queue for an available adviser but hung up as I don't need to speak to them yet.

I have amended the existing entry with it.

Hope I've followed the forum guidlines;
I need to call this number frequently now as I am appealing an unfair dismissal from work and it takes ages for them to answer when you call them, and it obviously costs a fortune dialling them from my mobile.

Thanks for any assistance.
