Right, in our rooms at uni, are phone service is provided by Dog N Bone, we buy prepaid cards to make calls, etc etc.

But for people to ring in they have provided everyone with a 0870 number thats unique, the last digits match up to your room number etc.

Does anyone know the normal landline numbers for these, or a way of finding out. If you ring say my mobile it saids caller withheld etc.

I will post my number when I get back if that helps.

First off have a quick read of the bits in red and let us have the www for the uni and the full 0870 etc, albeit with the last three digits XXX'd out. It may then be possible for one of the readers to help. Any information regarding internal access and use will also be helpful.

But we can not read minds (at least I can not).

As per Tanllan's post, can we have more information please? There are already several threads on university accommodation, some of which include a mention of Dog 'n' Bone Zone.

My room ext is: 2441,

My flat is 44 and room 1

Flat 44 room 4's number is 0870 1707644

So from what I know the last digits change each time

After some reading its not dog n bone who provide the 0870 its the uni, as its their phone system.

Dog N Bone just do external calls, so there must be some way of working out the true numbers as its all linked to the uni system

All numbers start with 0114 225 XXXX at the uni

I'm sure the lines all start with 0870 1707 XXX, is extenstion

I have tried dialing 01144 225 2441, and that doesn't seem to work, thought it would have as room extenstion is 2441 and you can dial any room in the block, and also other numbers like 888 our security and 2000 site office

I'm at sheffield hallam their web site is www.shu.ac.uk

The prefix 0870 170 is allocated to Your Communications. It is dated 05/2004.

Within the Sheffield code (0114), there are two prefixes allocated to Your Communications:
0114 204 Date: 01/1998
0114 211 Date: 07/2004

I would try 0114 211 first. As for what to put as the last four digits, you might have to try different combinations such as internal extension number and last four digits of 0870.

So this number can be added for student accomodation at SHU. it works at charlotte Court, and should be the same or similar for the other places
