Title: Severn Point Domain, Cardiff
Post by danbutcher on Oct 29th, 2005 at 2:38pm
Hi,
I'm currently staying at Severn Point in Cardiff, a private halls of residence provided by the moorfield group.

In our rooms, we have a phone, with an 0870 number (0870 330 9xxx) and an internal number that bears no relation to our external number (8028)

Reception and security also have internal numbers on this system. I don't know if this is interfaced to their PABX in the office, which has a landline number.

The phone company is called myfoneFRED, and the cards that we use to call out are branded viafone. Does anyone know of a geo number for this, or is it a VOIP system?

To get an outside line, we have to dial #2 and a pin number, then the phone number we want (including 100 and 999!) and if you try 1470 before your number, you can't make an outgoing call.

Many Thanks
Dan Butcher[glb][/glb]

The prefix 0870 330 is allocated to Your Communications, change date: 04/2004

The only prefix allocated to Your Communications in Cardiff is 029 2011, change date: 10/2004

I suggest you try 029 2011 then the last four digits of the extension first. Failing that, try it with the last four digits of the 0870.

I see it won't let you dial with 1470. Try dialling the access prefix 1899, ie #2<PIN>1899 If you dial it from a normal line (which is not registered with the service), it will tell you the number you are calling from. This might give us some clues to go on.
