According to a few MSE forum members, Call1899 are now charging 0.5p/min for calls made via its freephone number.  Calls made from a BT landline using shortcode 1899 remain at 0p/min.

A check of Call1899 mobile rates webpage here does confirm that they are now charging 0.5p/min for calls via their freephone number.

For those on NTL/Telewest unless you are getting a discount on your package then it may be worth considering moving over to BT.

You no doubt mean they are now charging 0.5p per minute to  call  01/02 geo numbers ,whether you use the 0808 or 020 access numbers. Which is not good news for cable customers,as you point out.

I wasn't exactly very clear was I especially as that also means via their 020 number as well?  To be honest I'd completely forgotten about their 020 number.

I was about to post this exact info tonight, as im kinda raging at the way 1899 havent even bothered to warn us about this..

Sure its still discriminating against 0800 users, they may have reasons, but we deserve to know in advance..

i hope they get their act together or atleast put it back to 0p per minute.. Sometimes voip isnt an option.

I Emailed 1899 about my concerns, I suggest you all do aswell. Im sure they make their money through the other calls to give us a call allowance.

UPDATE: I signed up for 18185 as they avertised 0p a minute on the 0800.. But again, their prompt says half a pee per minute, and also once it said 1pee per minute (musta drank too much!)

Its a shame they just suddenly got greedy without warning us.. they will lose alot of non-bt customers.
