Title: quoting from other posts?
Post by gdh82 on Dec 6th, 2005 at 8:06am
I know how to quote from other posts on the forum but how do I include in that quote the name of the member I'm quoting and the date of the quote ? Just clicking the quote button doesn't seem to include the other useful information.
Thanks in anticipation.

but it doesn't for me  :'(

I've copied and paste from your post into my post, highlighted it and then clicked the quote button - am I doing something wrong?

You've copied and pasted? You don't need to copy and paste anything. ::)

Just press Quote and it will appear in the Post Reply window. Then add your comments.

Thanks for your help with this Dave but I'm still having problems. :-[

If I highlight the text to quote and then click the quote button, I just get quote/unquote in square brackets but nothing in between! Help!

You don't need to highlight any text. Are you clicking the word Quote at the top of the post in question, or something else?

lesson 2

How do you get two quotes into a post, and still have them with ID and timestamp? I suspect that opening a separate window, press quote for the other post, then copy and paste the whole lot with name and time, then edit, might do it, but haven't bothered yet. Maybe it's too complicated to bother ...
