I dunno if this the correct section to put it in but hey here goes.

I recived a card today in the post, was sent Royal Mail Mailsort which is like 3rd Class.

Apparemtly I have a camera waiting for me, but only if I call an 0906 for 5.5mins to 'confirm' delivery.


Number is 0906 661 1903
Address on the card is Studio Telecom, Po Box 2087, Wrexham, LL11 4QZ.

This looks rather like a scam to me, and I have defo not called the number and will prob report it to icstis.

0906 661 ???? are premier rate numbers chared at aprox £1-50 per minute.  It appears that it is a scam.  http://www.saferlancashire.co.uk/local_areas/burnley/news/press5%20.pdf the document link page 3 gives details of the scam.

Studio Telecom was fined £20,000 on 24 June 2005 in connection with a a 'prize draw' it ran. The ICSTIS adjudication is here.

Just joined this great site!  I too received a card for a Digital Camera Today.  Thanks for the advice people.  The Good News is the Telephone Number for the Despatch Line is unavailable!!! So no wasted money.  Sure is a scam.  Many thanks and Happy New Year to you all.  Chris ;D

Id still check your bill very carefully. Somtimes these scammers put a recording to make you think its "out of service" or a "Ringing tone" or "enagaged" when in fact your being charged 2.5 pence a second.

Unless this means ictis has got on the ball pretty quickly and "suspended" the service based on past problems.

The first question one should ask is "When did I order a camara?"

If the answer is "Never", forget it!  Somebody is indeed trying to scam you.

If the answer is something like "It's here at last!", call you local mail sorting office or carrier's local depot and arrange delivery/collection.

It is difficult to imagine a reputable supplier will use trick numbers for their customer to receive goods.  After all, they want your repeat business and your recommendations to friends and colleagues.

Anyway glad that icstis has acted swiftly on this (I hope) and this camera scam has got "exposed" (Deliberate pun intended)

Had a letter from ICSTIS just arrive.

Basicly it states that as they recived 250+ complaints and that it was also xmas week they barred the service under icstis emergency procedures.
The revenue has also been frozen until further notice.
