0113 2345678 is the alternative number for Customer Service. The 0800 numbers dont connect you to CS.
* * Moved from post in Geographic Numbers Chat forum * * DaveM The alternative number to 08456 100100 that they will accept calls on is the number 0113 2345678. As you point out they dont accept customer service calls on the 0800 number shown on this site as an alternative to 08456 100 100. |

I just called the First Direct 0800 (0800 917 2424) number listed as an alternative to the standard inland 08456 100 100 number that customers are given. It seems they may have got wise to folk trying to ring in on this number! I followed the advice in the 'Other Info' field but the guy who answered asked me to call back on the 0845 number. Bah - foiled again!
From what I can gather it may be for international callers so maybe I should have said I'm calling from abroad or something. I think it more likely that they have changed the use for it though as I didn't get the standard "This is First Direct, may I have your postcode please?" response. It didn't sound like the guy was reading from a script either but it did sound like a call centre. I've been using this site for years but only just signed up for the forum so I hope I've put this advice in the right place. The advice for Southern Electric about calling the meter line and saying/entering nothing does work a treat though - managed to go through my billing at length as I knew I wasn't paying for the call! Cheers to the site operators - you shine out like a good deed in a bad world! |
