this is a delivery company that has delivered to me a couple of times and i have seen lots of vans about. Their number on the card is 0870 9084312. Not sure where they are based. This company seems to be used more and more.

Search for HOME DELIVERY NETWORK on 192.com, it comes up with 10 results, which are presumably depots. The Liverpool address on the website doesn't come up though.

Googling the 0870 gives nothing. The map on the home page of their site shows lighter dots, presumably where depots are. You can also e-mail through the website.

I too am seeking a geographical number for this firm. I seem to be receiving a lot of my parcels from them now, from various sources, and unlike the Post Office, I cannot go and collect the parcel easily if I am not in when they call.  I am on TalkTalk, so pay a monthly amount and get "free" calls, and obviously do not really want to run up extra charges on top when phoning the 0870s.

The number on my delivery card is similar to the one given in a previous post. I suppose it is a different number for different areas. Mine was 0870 908 4306.

I have looked on UK Phonebook for the company but no luck.  :(

The depot my driver comes from is Sunderland and you have listed that too!!  Thank you so much - I sat here fuming last week that each time I missed them, I had to ring their blasted 0870 number, when otherwise it would be free on my tariff.

Thank you so much again!

Ten months on from Dave's comment, 192.com now lists 60 results. It also includes a Liverpool address which wasn't there earlier in the year.

I've only looked at a handful of the entries but those I have checked all have geographical numbers. Rather a lot of work to add these to the database so maybe there could be a way of referring to this 192.com list.

We now have three unverified entries all with the 0870 number 0870 1545400. Googling suggests that this number belonged or belongs to White Arrow Express Ltd. Is this the number printed on a card left after a failed delivery?

The website doesn't appear to give a phone number. The registered address on HDNL's website is:

Skyways House
Speke Road
Speke
Liverpool
L70 1AB

A search of the company's website for 0151 (see here) reveals one page that gives a fax number: 0151 290 8702

A search of 192.com for this address yields nothing, but HDNL does have an office at:

FALLOWS WAY
WHISTON
PRESCOT
MERSEYSIDE
L35 1RZ

Tel 0151 290 8500

The first few digits are the same as the above fax, so I guess that this is the switchboard and that this is the true location. Skyways House is a new development, see here. It is also the home of Littlewoods Shop Direct.

In actual fact  its like a tree  i.e
The parent company who operates the transport side for littlewoods home delivery network is called REALITY.COM
And is a result of a merger between littlewoods express/buiness express/white arrow and Reality. Reality do the main artic work  for inter depot trunking and daily bulk collections and hdnl do the door to door.
I trunk to various depot everynight with me wagon.
Hope that has helped

Their customer services freephone number is 0800 0515506.  I got this by ringing the depot where my parcel was (number obtained from google maps) and trying to chat to them.  They gave me this number instead.

They took ages to answer by the way, but when they did they were polite and as helpful as they could be considering they were telling me that my parcel wasn't going to be delivered when amazon.co.uk had said it would be.

Hope this is of use!

HDNL in Scotland

HNDL appear not to operate their own vans in Scotland, but have a tie-up with a Scottish-based firm, headquartered in Airdrie, which has branches elsewhere in Scotland.

I was told that their phone number is 01236 755447 (but I haven't got past the ringing tone yet).

08081010002 has been submitted to the database as HDNL. It answers as such and then puts you in a queue (no menu or indication of department). Other numbers that answer the same as this are 0808 1010003 and 0808 1010004.

0808 1010001 also answers as Home Delivery Network and has a menu with the following options:

1. Delivery/collection date
2. Cancel an order
3. All other enquiries

This is a brilliant site. I want to thank "a very nice man" for his very accurate list of numbers!
Whithout his help I would have probably never got hold of my package. The amount of miscommunication that occurs between HDLN main office and their Depots is _monumental_ . The only way to deal with them is to call their geocraphical lines or beter yet avoid HDLN all together. :)

angie, this number is in the same category as 0870. It is charged above the price of a geographical call from a landline and allows the receiver (Home Delivery Network in this case) to receive revenue from the call, just as 0870 does.

Calls to 0870 numbers were going to be reduced to geographical rates in February, but this will now not happen. The result of the announcement that 0870 numbers would be lowered in price was that many companies/organisations switched to other numbers so they can keep their revenue share. Home Delivery Network is one of those such companies.

There are many numbers in the database for Home Delivery Network, so you might find your local depot in there.

After considerable frustratin trying to get to talk to someone at Home Delivery Network that was prepared to actually DO something about my non-delivery, I found the number 0151 290 8500 in this forum thread. I was answered straight away by a very helpful young lady (Angela) who took the time to explain why there may have been problems with my delivery and promised to start tracking it. She explained that they do request people to contact the supplier of their goods for delivery problems but that she was happy to assist on this occasion because of the problems I was having .... notably the fact that the supplier was DABS who do not provide any telephone numbers OR email addresses for contact purposes.  All they have is an online chat facility that constantly tells you that their operators are busy and invites you to submit an enquiry form .... neither of which got answered within a reasonable timeframe.

So - problems with HDN - call 0151 290 8500 (I believe this is a direct number into their complaints section, at least that's what Angela inferred) - problems with DABS? Simple - don't use them!!

Thanks. This number is already listed as a secondary alternative for the Preston depot so I have removed the entry you have just submitted.

The main entry for Preston depot is given as 01772 620358. Please advise as to whether this number is still a suitable alternative or whether the one you have given (338479) is the better main alternative. As Bamber Bridge is only a few miles outside Preston, I think it's fair to assume that Home Delivery Network will have only one branch in the area, so both numbers relate to the same one.

Hi, I'm having trouble getting a parcel delivered from Hull depot. I managed to get through on the listed "unverified" number on Saturday morning, but no one is answering midweek. I used the freefone 08081010001 number this morning and was thru' to "large parcels" and needed to ring the 0844 number for small deliveries. I asked if she could put me thru' and she did ;) Think I may have saved a few pennies and hopefully one day will get my parcel. Hope this helps others. Thanks for the great service your website provides

Sorry but when I tried this number I got through to someone who said they only do large items (such as mattresses etc), not smaller items. The lady that I spoke to wasn't helpful in that she didn't have any other number for me to contact regarding small items other than my local branch. Having already spoken to a series of care-factor-zeroes at my local branch, and been poorly treated three times already, I wanted to speak with a senior customer services department, but she was insistent that there was no such thing and there was no such thing as a head office for HDNL either, which I just could not believe.

Afterwards I tried the Merseyside number [0151 290 8500] and got through to a more helpful person who was able to give me an email for complaint escalation [ escalatedqueries@hdnl.co.uk ] and she also got a proper senior person to phone me from my local branch. Things aren't fully sorted yet (there's clearly some rot at the core of this company, as with DABS), but at least through this valuable facility I've managed to contact one of the organ grinders...

So according to HDNL's online tracking system, they tried to deliver my parcel yesterday. Funny, my flatmate was in most of the day, nobody rang the bell and we didn't even get a calling card!

I just phoned that number to try and chase up my delivery - 01512908500 - and was told that she couldn't help me because she was the receptionist for that site of the company. Neither could she put me through to any of the depots or to the central customer services line. She (o so helpfully) gave me another 0871 number to call  ::)

I phoned the number for the Wembley depot because I figured that is probably the nearest one to my house (despite the fact that I don't know... cos I have no delivery card!!) and was told that they couldn't help me because their system was down today and I could try customer services (again!) or get in touch with the supplier directly. Ugh!

Having seen earlier on this thread that other people have been told to contact the supplier, I had a look on Amazon as the supplier is a marketplace seller. Whose only mode of contact for customers is by online enquiry form!! There's no number I can call for them at all. So I really hope I don't get told to contact them.

So, having been told twice by 2 numbers I got from this site to contact central customer services, why is there no number for central customer services listed here?! I only have a mobile and my bill will be so high if I have to call the stupid 0871 number! Not only that, but if I can't arrange for them to deliver within 4 days they will charge me a tenner for the privilege of having my parcel returned to sender!!! Help please!!

Title: Re: Home Delivery Network Ltd (HDNL)

So, does not HDNL's online tracking system, tell you where your parcel was delivered from? Usually with these tracking devices, you can tell where your parcels are at any one time, whether it is in a particular depot or on the van. Look to see what the last depot was before it went on to the van and give that depot a ring.

Just called 0151 290 8500 and spoke to the 'receptionist(?)' who was quite helpful. I just insisted that I was unwilling to pay for an 0871 call and did not have access to the internet at the moment. I asked if she coul give me a geographical number for the automated service but she said she couldn't. :(
She took my address details, found my parcel and emailed the depot with new delivery instructions. :)
Let's hope the system works, EH?
P.S.   I love this site!!   Sooo useful!! ;D

Title: Re: Home Delivery Network Ltd (HDNL)

You're lucky if the geographic number works at all, the number listed for Eastleigh (023 8061 9866) doesn't accept incoming calls. The website www.myhdnl.co.uk is currently not working - maybe it never does. Surely a company wouldn't try and force you to use a 0871 number >:(.

Also, trying to sort things out from the main hdnl web site is only possible if you have the long code from the retailer, I can't find any way of searching by (missed delivery) reference number on the main hdnl web site.

And, the cheaper number 08448111816 is dead.

Thus, for missed deliveries, the only option for some of us is to pay 10 pence or more a minute.

I don't see the value of the customer relations details - we're not customers of hdnl. One way of stirring things up a bit might be to use the main hdnl web site to pretend to be prospective clients (ie retailers) looking to use hdnl. We could explain that we are retailers who like to treat our customers, who would be their delivery recipients, like dirt, and sense some synergy between our organisations. If enough of us do this it might have some effect.

My first post. I don't think I've broken any rules - I've been careful to ensure that the preceeding paragraph could not be proven to be defamatory.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I have removed this entry.

We've got some numbers for Fareham depot, and as it's not very far from Eastleigh, so perhaps it has been closed down. Are you sure that your parcel is at Eastleigh branch or have you picked that from our listings as it's the closest to your location?

Numbers for Fareham we have are 01489 572462, 01489 581571 and 01489 581544. Only the first is verified, but we will appreciate any feedback on any of these numbers.

I've removed this and the other 0844 556 0557 number from all Home Delivery Network entries. I have also added this company to the Hall of Shame. It has moved from 0870 to 0844 and a year or so later now to a 0871 number!  :-X

Gatwick (in reality its in Crawley) branch's number worked fine when I used it last Thursday 5th Nov and I was even able to request that they leave the item from Amazon in my entrance lobby without a signature.  It was there when I got home that evening.

Amazon quoted 8 days for delivery when I ordered the item but it only took 3 days and the Royal Mail was also happily excluded from the final leg  to the front door by the use of a courier based in Crawley. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

So my niece gets her Fab-tastic Cool Cookie Creation present delivered to my door for only £12.99 when it was £17.99 if I trudged to the local Toys R Us store some 20 miles away and burned all that fuel not to mention car park charges in Woking's Peacock Centre. Seems like a good deal to me.

Just to say many thanks for the Leeds Depot number; it worked for me and I was able to easily rearrange another delivery. They had attempted an earlier delivery but didn't leave a card so I wasn't aware until I tracked the package on Amazon's website.

Confirming the geographic number for the Shaw/Oldham/Manchester delivery depot works.

01706 355 223

I got notice from Amazon my parcel was due to be delivered on a certain date. I knew I would be out. I spoke to Ann at the depot who kindly arranged to delay delivery till the following day.

Will keep my legs crossed the new arrangement works but Ann was very polite and no potential difficulties raised.

I just tried maidstone depot on 01622 710084 from he unverified numbers page and a very helpful woman answered.

I wanted to know if there was a certain time I could expect my package to be delivered today and she told me that normally she would be able to give me an estimate but being christmas they have a lot of extra agency drivers so normal delivery times for areas have gone out the window. She was also able to tell me how they were coping with icy roads (as mine is a little bit on the snowy side) and that if they were un able to deliver today they would try again tomorrow and the day after etc etc.

Very helpful, very friendly and the number gets through after a couple of rings!

020 8685 1032    Mitcham

So HDNL in Mitcham have now decided that they will obstruct calls phopned directly to this number, even though it is in the customer services department at the depot, and that they will only answer your queries if you phone them via the 0871  number in Liverpool.

The fact that they will connect you from there to the same office in Mitcham seems to be irrelevant to them, and it is clearly an indication of company policy that they will be unhelpful unless they can make a bit of money out of customer dissatisfaction!

Isn't this the kind of company we don't like? Spread the word!

Hi and welcome to SAYNOTO0870.COM.

Thanks for this. Home Delivery Network used to have a 0870 number, then changed to a 0844 one, and then increased its premium with a 0871 number.

Unfortunately it's difficult to avoid this sort of company. Unless you know which mail order companies use its services for deliveries and you avoid those companies, then I'd say it's nigh-on impossible.

Home Delivery Network is a courier, so I'm not so sure that it giving innaccurate information on the parcel to the recipient before it is delivered makes it of no use. When you receive the parcel(s), you will find out what it is (or what they are if there's more than one). I presume that a delivery attempt has been made, so why not just request they come back to you when someone is in? Even if the item is wrong, they still have to deliver it to you and then it is up to you to follow the returns procedure set out by the retailer you bought it from.

If you called the Stockton depot using one of the numbers published on our site, then you must remember that these are not intended for use by the consignee. As far as I know, the 0871 number goes through to head office and thus all calls are dealt with there. The depot's direct number is therefore effectively like a back door, and having turned up there, you could have been referred to the 0871 number (the front door), but you weren't. So the person taking your call was probably just being helpful to you, rather than following what is probably company policy by referring you to the 0871 number. The type or size of parcel may have been a guess on their part or they may have mistakenly thought that they saw your parcel earlier. Some may suggest that depot staff who refuse to deal with consignees are "jobsworths", but there is little wonder they may do this when they find their help thrown back in their face by being branded "useless" for assisting.

In any case, how can you be totally sure that your supplier has not sent the wrong item or that the product doesn't come in more than one box, one of which is shoe box size, both of which eventualities would make the information provided correct?

Great site this and has saved me quite a lot of money over the few years I have used it.
Have now registered and have a number to add to this thread for Home Delivery Network Limited.

For INverness office, Serving the Highlands call:

This is a verified number called this morning and got a very cheerful and helpful Girl who gave me the information I was looking for.

Hope this makes it onto the list.

Thanks again.

I too have recently suffered with HDNL after buying something from Amazon.

Took a day off on the estimated delivery day, but didn't turn up because it appeared stuck in an HDNL depot.

Next day I got a try to deliver card.  Of course the web site wasn't working.  Objected to paying 10p a Minute because HDNL web site wasn't working.

Found these details for HDNL Depot In Reading:

9 Deacon Way
Tilehurst, Reading RG30 6AZ

Tel: 0118 941 4012

The phone was answered and Irene who answered was very helpful and tracked down my parcel for me.  I did have to collect my Parcel and their depot is a long way from where I live, but at least I got it eventually.  I hope others find the local number useful.

I phoned 0151 2908500 and asked for the number of the Inverness depot which was very helpfully given without any quibble -- 01463 714964.  And the phone there was answered and the guy was very helpful.  More than I can say for the driver.

Allegedly the driver had claimed the premises were locked.  Didn't ring the bell and didn't leave a card and didn't put the parcel back on the van so I doubt whether he was here at all.   The same guy had been here the day before with another parcel and he ought to know by now that the premises are almost always occupied 24/7 and in any case there's a notice on the door giving two alternative delivery points.  Easily the worst of the delivery networks.

I went on to the website and the tracking number on the card they had left does not work so I have just rang 01708376155 as the alternative to the 0871 number and I got through to the Romfod Depot.  Laura who answered the phone was very unhelpful and told me I had to ring the 0871 number. There is another, unverified entry for the Romford branch, 01708 376153, which is similar and may suggest that it has others in the 37615x range (and maybe beyond). Perhaps you got someone's direct number - maybe someone else at this branch would have helped you or perhaps there wasn't.

Thanks for the feedback. The 0871 number is a centralised service (I presume), so it's policy not to have customers calling individual branches. Thus, presumably, the main customer services is based at head office. I have therefore emphasised in bold the 0151 290 8500 head office number and added a note to say that it is suitable for enquiries from all areas.

I've just tried to contact the Bamber Bridge depot using the verified number (01772 338479) and I got Number Unobtainable tone.  I suspect that the NU tone was due to something that HDNL have done rather than the number no longer existing.  However I got through easily using the number in the Other Information, i.e. 01772 620358.
Like many others on here they claimed to have left a card but hadn't.  When I spoke to them they said they would deliver tomorrow. I said that it wasn't the first time that they had failed to deliver when scheduled and after a few minutes looking at the parcel details they promised to re-deliver today.  I wait with bated breath!!

Phoned the Wembley depot and spoke to Sue. She was extremely helpful and said she would speak to the driver and find out where he might be. In the meantine, 5 mins, I received the parcel. Sue even rang back. So nice to know someone does as they say they will. Excellent customer service

Is this for a parcel being delivered to a UK address? If so, perhaps you could ring the depot served by the address in question for which we may well have the number for.

It's for a delivery in Spain, sent from the UK using DHNL. Problem is they don't operate in Spain, so they passed the delivery to a local company (TNT network according to the tracking page) and the order is been put on hold because of and adress issue. I've tried contacting TNT spain, but the tracking number is not the same, and they insist that they can't find the delivery and told me to get more info from DHNL which seems to be impossible... I don't know what else to do...

If it's been ordered from a UK retailer, then that retailer has a responsibility to provide the goods and you should contact them.

Thanks. I have removed this entry.

The number in question is 0114 244 4661 and is not reconised from a BT line. Other networks may use different tones; for mobile networks the tone is generated in the handset and therefore is different for different handsets.

I needed to talk to Central Customer Services so I tried calling the 0151 290 8500 number. The receptionist was not able to put me through - all she could offer was the 0871 977 0800 number - nice!

Title: Verification of an unverified number
Post by TheRockDoc on Nov 4th, 2010 at 4:26pm
I apologise in advance if this is the wrong forum, but I cannot find where to post this information.

My partner was expecting a package and was informed it was being delivered by NHDL, the tracking number was checked and it was discovered that at 19:27 on Wednesday 3rd November the driver had apparently tried to deliver the package - he hadn't because we were in at that time. Insult was added to injury when the next entry showed it had been re-deposited at NHDL's depot 4 minutes later at 19:31.

Now I know that delivery drivers practice "low flying" but this must be a new world record as he managed to do 23 miles in 2 minutes - allowing 1 minute to get back in his van, start it and drive back to the runway - err main road. Allowing for a 1 minute at the depot he drove 23 miles in 2 minutes!! I checked for number 0871 977 0800 and discovered that there is an alternative number verified 01293 517004, but the unverified number shown further down is also their's 01293 565351.

So the Gatwick Depot of NHDL has two numbers both of which are answered 01293 517004 an 01293 565351.

Hope this is useful.

Hello and welcome to SAYNOTO0870.COM.

Thanks for the feedback; I always advise people to post in the Requests section of the forum about updates that are required, including where unverified numbers can be listed as verified.  :)

I have removed the unverified entry for this branch and added the 565351 number to the existing verified entry as a secondary number.

Once again, many thanks. Do let me know of any other updates that are required with the entries you come across.  :)

Hi,
The 'unverified' number for Bolton/Farnworth gets a charming (electronic) lady telling me that the number I have dialed has not been recognised.

Hello and welcome to SAYNOTO0870.COM and thank you for the feedback.

I've removed the number in question, which, for the record, was 01204 793112. I checked on Yell.com and found that it lists geographic numbers for Bolton and some other depots:

Bury Mead Rd, Hitchin, Hertfordshire SG5 1RT * Tel: 01462 421336
147 Brierley Rd, Walton Summit Centre, Bamber Bridge, Preston, Lancashire PR5 8AH * Tel: 01772 330093
Larkfield Trading Estate, New Hythe Lane, Larkfield, Aylesford, Kent ME20 6SW * Tel: 01622 716860
3, Barnes Wallis Rd, Fareham, Hampshire PO15 5ST * Tel: 01489 581544
Royal Pennine Trading Estate, Lynroyle Way, Rochdale, Lancashire OL11 3JR * Tel: 01706 355223
5, Atkinsons Way, Foxhills Industrial Estate, Scunthorpe, South Humberside DN15 8QJ * Tel: 01724 289594
12-14, Carsegate Rd North, Inverness, Inverness-Shire IV3 8EA * Tel: 01463 712325
Unit 7, Olympic Way, Wembley, Middlesex HA9 0XJ * Tel: 020 8903 2772
Unit F, Gildersome Spur Industrial Estate, Gildersome, Leeds, West Yorkshire LS27 7JZ * Tel: 0113 238 0343
Baird Close, Hadleigh Road Industrial Estate, Ipswich, Suffolk IP2 0UF * Tel: 01473 287131

HDNL's own website has a map with its depots and other operational centres on, including addresses (although not telephone numbers):
http://www.hdnl.co.uk/About-Us/Our-Network/

I've been through the database and added the addresses to all the entries. We have alternatives (a couple still require verification) for all depots except Corby.

The two unverified numbers we had for Corby, both of which are now not recognised, are 01536 403370 and 01536 268416.

There were also two unverified Liverpool numbers, which I guess could be for the head office. They are 0151 906 1080 which rings and 0151 906 7976 which is unobtainable and had a note by it to ask for customer services.

This PDF gives addresses of Shop Direct offices across the UK:

I have listed the numbers that you need to call without incuring charges, but as yet they are unverified therefore at the end of the list.
Tel: 0800 1577777 to get through to exactly the same people that answer on the 0871 number; as far as I can tell. They certainly did the same job without query or transfer.
Tel: 0151 290 8501 if you are not happy & want to speak to someone in the "Executive Department". They won't want to speak to you, but if you are polite you will be able to get your message across to someone who is as anoyed at you (for 'phoning  them) as much as you are annoyed at them (for failing to deliver). Their Chief Exec is Jonathan Smith should you want to go all the way.
If you get an answer 'phone on the 501 number & want a quick response try 0151 290 8502. The lady here doesn't like you calling her, so you should be able to have someone assigned to your case to keep you off hers.
I actually found the company incredibly efficient & caring about my situation after having spoken to people on these numbers, unlike the woman on the head office number who says she has no boss, but admits she doesn't own the company! She will go round in conversation circles all day if you push her & have the time.
Good Luck.

Hello and welcome to SAYNOTO0870.COM.

Thanks for this. I've added the 0800 number to the top entry. I've also put the 0151s into the Other Information field of the entry with the head office switchboard.

BTW, will they deal with calls about redelivery (and any other type of enquiry) on the switchboard number, 0151 290 8500?

I see that earlier this year Home Delivery Network announced that it was changing its name to Yodel:
http://www.marketingweek.co.uk/news/home-delivery-network-rebrands-as-yodel/3013975.article

I have changed the names on the entries in the database, and added "Yodel" so that a search by that name will bring them up.

I'm not sure of the point of this name change, clearly there is always money to be thrown at exercises like this. It has previously been known as Business Express and White Arrow, so it's had its fair share of name changes.

And the name "Yodel"; I thought Parcelnet changing its name to Hermes was bad!  ;D

Hi there,
I was having problems with finding a number for my local (Hull) HDNL depot, stumbled accross this website which actually gives the numbers of the depots direct local number. No silly charges. I rang the number listed and got straight through and was not told to ring an alternative number. Problem solved.
The website in question is www.touchlocal.com
Just type in Home Delivery Network in the "who/what" box and the town or city in the "where" box. It will give you a long list of courier services but just plough through until you find HDNL, click on it and it gives you the address and local telephone number.

Good times.

I came acrossthis thread today when I became completely exasperated with both Amazon and HDNL.  I waited in all day yesterday having seen on the tracking info for my order that it was out for delivery.  At 7pm it was inexplicably returned to the Hull depot.  I called HDNL main office who were very unhelpful and told me they didn't have contact details for the Hull depot and didn't know when my package would be delivered.  I called Amazon who spoke with Hull who said they'd bring it today or tomorrow.  I asked for it to be sent today as I will be out tomorrow.  This cannot be guaranteed apparently.  Last time I had to deal with HDNL I ended up driving from York to Hull to collect my package as I couldn't take time off to wait in all day, they refused to leave in our communal (but safe) hallway and would not redeliver to my work address.

I eventually found a number for the Hull depot - 01482352993.  The lady is spoke to sounded very fed up and said "I know I'm not being very helpful here but that is just how it is.  I can't tell you when it will be sent out".  Ridiculous!!!

I can verify that the above number is correct and will get you straight through to the Hull HDNL depot but in my experience this didn't get me very far.  Come on Amazon - fork out for a better delivery company!!

"Thanks for this. I've added the 0800 number to the top entry. I've also put the 0151s into the Other Information field of the entry with the head office switchboard."

Thank you for your prompt action & the welcome Dave. These numbers hould save people a lot of time.

"BTW, will they deal with calls about redelivery (and any other type of enquiry) on the switchboard number, 0151 290 8500?"

Not at the tiem I called. I only called it once, but I was going round in circles with the receptionist (as she called herself). She refused to put me through to anyone else (I asked many times to speak to her boss) or give me any number other than the 0871 number. She had clearly been told to make sure customers chasing parcels use only the 0871 number.

"I'm not sure of the point of this name change, clearly there is always money to be thrown at exercises like this. It has previously been known as Business Express and White Arrow, so it's had its fair share of name changes."

I beleive it is because Googling hdnl brings up more negative comments on the company than positive. This proves that complaining on the net does work. Well done all those who put the effort in.

"And the name "Yodel"; I thought Parcelnet changing its name to Hermes was bad!  ;D[/quote]"

Fully agree!

The technique I used to get the number(s) I required works with a lot of large companies. Just add or subtract 1 to a Geographic number you have for the company & listen to who answers. Do the same if you only have a geographic fax number.
I got lucky in getting the 0800 number; I got diverted to a mobile answer machine of somebody who anounced his name on the message. I then left a message using a confident tone & his first name only  (like a friend would). He then called me back from his mobile without withholding his number. Once I had this it was in his best interests to give me a suitable alternative to prevent me hassling him!

Keep up the excellent work. This site is invaluable.

You stayed off work for it, but have you looked out of your window? Have you seen the conditions?

I believe we should be understanding as a result of the conditions. I would have thought that it was returned to the delivery office because it was the end of the driver's shift.

They can only be in one place at a time and with the weather in the area the Hull depot serves, it's understandable that deliveries are going to take longer. This will also create a back-log.

Whilst I sympathise with your response, I cannot see how this is down to the bad operation of the company.

Perhaps the best thing to do is request that it be delivered on the next day someone will be at home. If they try to deliver when no one's in, its wasted time for them as well, so it would suit both parties to attempt delivery at a time someone is going to be in.

I am also waiting for a parcel which was expected to be delivered on Tuesday by City Link. The depot is about 20 miles away and had it been closer I might have gone and collected it.

Thanks for the feedback. I've made some changes to the entries.

0800 157 7777 is now at the top with a note in bold saying "Redelivery for all areas" followed by "Arrange redelivery online at www.myhdnl.co.uk". Where possible, I assume it's easiest to use the website (I write this having not used the website - I am making assumptions over its usefulness).

These companies are all computerised now anyway, which is why they like you to speak to a central call centre rather than individual depots. Allowing consignees to book redeliveries over the internet means that they interact with the system without needing an agent to do so, as is the case when you ring.

It seems to me like the suits think they can buy their way out with a new "brand" name. How about improving the way your company works?

I'm sure that they would say that they're getting better; whether they are or not, I don't know.

This company has had several names over the years. But you don't have to change your name to improve your image. Look at how Škoda has transformed its image over the last couple of decades!

Similarly, sometimes companies change 08 numbers or get additional ones, so please let us know so these can be added. I respond quickly to messages posted on the forum about this.

If you find new alternatives not listed, then post those as well. This site works through user input; telling us of updates, additions and numbers that need removing.

The HDNL number 0151 290 8500 is a telephone receptionist for suppliers not customers. Saying this He/She IS able to re-direct your call to the CUSTOMER SERVICES , they will of course try and make you call the 08 numbers but stand your ground. They have the facility to NOT force you on to the 08 network.

I do have to say that even though I did get through to the CUSTOMER SERVICES team, and manager. Circles and cirles. Nothing has been achieved and they speak to you as though you are an idiot. I feel for them, they are not given any resources to resolve any issues, just take the gumph we dish out at them. The issues are COMPLETELY LITTLEWOODS directors who own HDNL.

You may have to beg for your money back as well. Enter a chain of correspondence, that will only ever be flashed in front of someone eyes eventually.   Only to be told, that as the moon was not in the right place, or the sun was behind a cloud, They DON'T give refunds. lol

Hello and welcome to SayNoTo0870.com.

There are two entries in the database that appear to relate to this particular depot:

  • Verified:

    • Yodel       0871 244 0525             0131 333 3651             Edinburgh depot

  • Unverified:

    • Home Delivery Network       0871 977 0800             0131 333 5383             Edinburgh Depot Address: HDNL Edinburgh. Unit 8A, Newbridge Industrial Estate, EH28 8LD

    • Yodel             0844 248 0555       0131 344 2162             For Tracking Numbers starting with JD

Please can you indicate which it is that you tried unsuccessfully and in what way you got nowhere? Was there no answer etc? This will help us to amend the listings and prevent others from going along the same road that you went along.

Thanks for pointing this out.

DMAC, above, gave the number as 0131 334 2162 which now rings once and trips to a message "The service you have requested is not available. Goodbye and thank you for calling." The female voice is the voiceover used by a PBX...

I have therefore removed the entry until such a time as we find a working one.

I am trying to contact the Edinburgh depot as a they tried to deliver a parcel yesterday, but I was out. As suggested on their website I tried to track the parcel at   myyodel.co.uk.
According to the boxes they had ticked my parcel was -
       ......   Awaiting collection
and  ......   in transit
and  ......   at the delivery service centre awaiting collection  (!)
So exactly where is the parcel ?

I have tried all the numbers given for Edinburgh Newbridge but they all either say "service requested is not available" or "Not recognised".
:-/They would appear to be 'not contactable'.  So at a standstill.
My parcel is supposed to be delivered now on Saturday but anytime between 7am and pm, so do I have to stay in all day.
They now say on the website they can leave the parcel with a neighbour who has to sign for it, but why could they not have done that yesterday.  We all take in parcels for each other here. :-/

For Yodel, I tried 0800 904 7776, a number suggested by another user, but got the message that it is no longer in use and I should ring  0844 372 3159

I have tried to contact the Swindon depot number but I understand it was closed down as part of Yodel's depot reorganisation last year.  Some of the other depots listed may also be closed now.

I have moved your post to this thread on Yodel (HDNL)

There are several alternatives listed for the 0844 453 7443 via the search box here: http://www.saynoto0870.com/search.php

Please report back any numbers that have any redirect messages on them or that do not work.

Thanks.

I just want to thank pjn1978  for his advice here - he is dead right:-

There IS a way to get through to a Human Being (yes, it seems they employ a few) on the  0800 1577777 Number.

Press option 1 then option 1

- that's the option AS IF you had had a delivery card - don't worry you dont' need one:  proceed as if you had,  and

- It will ask for a card number, so enter 12345678

- it will confirm that (read it back to you) - and ask you to press 1 if correct -  so you do so ;

- then it will say it "can't recognise this code"....

- enter 12345678  AGAIN ;

- it will confirm that again (read it back to you) - and ask you to press 1 if correct -  so you do so,  again;

- then it will say it "can't recognise this code".... AND PUT YOU THROUGH.

HOORAY.   Normal humans (sounding tired,  from all the moaning callers no doubt.)

I confirm this is TRUE -  it WORKS.

Good luck.

I tried the advice about putting in 12345678 if no card number but this didn't work even though I put it in twice it just cut me off.

I phoned 0844 372 3159 as also suggested here and got a really nice chap who was very helpful.  He also told me that if you press 5 which isn't given as an option it takes you straight through to a human being.  I'm giving this here as several of the alternative numbers no longer work so I guess they close all loop holes which allow us to actually speak to them eventually.

Hi antowen,

Thanks for taking the time to register and let us know about an incorrect number.

I can confirm that these entries have now been removed from the website.

Thanks again for bringing this to our attention.

As none of the said numbers for Gatwick work - discontinued, I guess that Yodel  no longer facilitate any info from local depots.  Not helpful as the chat is usually offline.  Further even if you do use the 12345678 trick, I find that the person at the other end has very little info on whether the parcel is am/pm etc.  So not much good.Yodel are going backwards - compared to DPD. :-[

Post by Daffodiltulip on Apr 29th, 2015 at 1:19pm
I'm expecting a delivery by Yodel today.  I tried tracking it last night on their website, but it didn't recognise it or postcode.  I clicked on "contact us" and decided to choose the online chat, which I couldn't find anywhere.  Early this morning I received a text from them saying I could expect them any time before 9p.m!  It's  my day off and I haven't been able to step out of the house yet (it's not 2.15p.m.).  I tried the free number, which is automated, and didn't get anywhere with the information I had and put the telephone down rather than try other things the automation wanted to suggest.  I've tried ringing a few of the geographical numbers from this website, but they have been disconnected.  Does anyone know of any geographical Yodel telephone numbers, or how I can find their online chat facility?

Oops! I missed a digit - however, website info and freephone automated info still only tell me it will be delivered today, with no other option to try and find out approximately when.  So, if anyone knows any working geographical number for Yodel, please let me know.  It's still only 2.55 - there's some of the day left!

Title: Re: Yodel/Home Delivery Network Ltd (HDNL)

Right - I gave in and rang their customer service number 0844 453 7443 - only to find it was the same as the 0800 number (only now I've paid something for it, presumably), and there's no further option.  I re-dialled and said no when asked if I wanted an update on the delivery, answered a few questions, the last reply from me being "I want to speak to someone", only to be put on hold momentarily before a message came on saying the wait would be in excess of five minutes.  And I still couldn't find access to their chat facility on the website.  I may have to reconsider ordering anything from anyone using Yodel as a courier in the future.

They showed up just before four, but I will definitely be more aware of buying something that will mean a Yodel delivery in future - who's got that sort of time to waste - being expected to sit in from first thing in the morning to 9pm at night.  Fortunately there was still just enough time to go to town to get things done before closing.  But thanks for that number.  If it's something really important and I have to accept it'll be Yodel, it will be helpful.

Yodel are usually pretty good, it is DHL and another company that merged. They usually leave the parcel with a neighbour if you are not available or try 3 times to diliver :)

First of all, thank you so much for this site, I have saved so much money and time by using it!

Has anyone come across an 03 number for Yodel? I'm a student at the minute and we don't have a landline, so need to use my mobile to make the call. This is the 3rd or 4th time I've searched the database and Google for an 03 customer service Yodel number to no avail  :-/

Any help is greatly appreciated!

All listed verified numbers for depots have been disconnected in favour of 020 numbers.

Valid numbers from today:
Truro:
020 3738 2099
Newton Abbot:
020 3738 2532

I also note that the trick of typing in 12345678 for a calling card number will no longer get you a human on the automated system.

ArrowXL:
0808 101 0002 - Disconnected
0808 101 0003 - Valid, refuses to discuss Yodel packages, generally unhelpful.

Good Morning leezer3

Thank you for letting us know,

So are you saying that the 020 3738 format appears so far to be the general format Yodel are using for their depots?
