Title: Discountdial problem?
Post by firestop on Jan 30th, 2006 at 2:39pm
In the last hour I have tried to dial UK mobile numbers using www.discountdial.co.uk  and on each occasion it connects with ringing tone, but after about 5-6 rings an automated message says " The caller is unable to answer your call just now, a text message has been sent"
I know that in one case the caller WAS definitely able to take the call, so what is going on?
Costs 5p a go to keep trying >:(
If this service has stopped could they not just tell us? No longer cheap if you keep paying for getting nothing at all.
Nothing on website to explain.

But it's not an 'engaged' I'm getting - I go through all the 0844... and get the 1p per min message,  I dial  00 44 etc and it then starts to ring the 5-6 times, so mobile is not engaged.
Funny business!
I dialled by mobile and got through immediately - but costly!!

If by "text message", it is referring to SMS (ie a mobile text message), then is this not the mobile network answering?

Is the network you are calling O2, and does the subscriber have O2 CallAlert switched on?

Have arranged for call alerts to be switched off and will try again.  But still to be convinced.
However will see. Thanks for the link, Dave, hadn't been even aware of these things (not a young, trendy - more an old stick-in-the-mud). ;)
