Title: OneTel raise line rental & move people to TT
Post by bigjohn on Feb 4th, 2006 at 11:23am
The www.onetel.co.uk website now directs you to the new owners TT website if you wish to sign up.

They have increased their line rental to £10.49 a month to  come in line with TT. See this this thread in MSE Forum which discusses matter : http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=144902

They are also moving existing customers on to TT call packages see this thread in MSE Forum  which discusses this point  :  http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=144553

Wonder what they will do with JDS. ;)

I don't know what OneTel's costs are for US calls, but 18185 is only 0.5p/min (+ 4p connection).

I'm not surprised.  OneTel didn't inform me when they started charging for their DQ service.  If it werent for this site and moneysavingexpert then I'd still be none the wiser.

TT = TalkTalk & they are owned by Carphone Warehouse!

We personally use a Smaller Company called Call-4-Less (www.call-4-less.co.uk)

Calls to the USA cost only 1.99pence per minute & no connection fee, so when I make a quick call I dont get charged more than I should

The call quality is excellent as it is not internet based, so as clear as BT calls are, but we save every month

The calls to Mobile phones in the day is also less than my previous supplier, they cost 9.99pence/min

The line rental is not much less tho, at £9.35 per month  :(

Hope thats some help

What will happen with One.Tel's cable customers? Their service was working fine when I used it earlier today. Their international rates haven't changed in years (although TalkTalk's are worse) but for some bizarre reason their rate to East Timor, which I phone from time to time, is a very reasonable 25p/min. TalkTalk charge £1.90, BT £1.99 and Alpha Telecom £2.94!

Sure it'll never be the most frequently called destination in the world, but you could say the same about a lot of other places. A sick joke too when it's not only the world's newest country, but also the world's poorest.

TalkTalk use UK call centres, unlike One.Tel, whose Indian staff are the most long-winded and pompous people I've ever spoken to: 'we have logged the fault and will endeavour to have a resolution of same in forty-eight hours of time...! '  :P

There are at least 8 cheaper than 25p/minute - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/intcallchecker/index.php
