My turn to ask for some help.
I've had a quick scan around the net for a cheap access number for 0871 numbers, but can't seem to find a provider.
Has anyone come across one? If so, would you please share the info?

What I am trying to do is...
Use an access number for 0871 that is cheaper than 6p per min
Use the 0871 to then dial an Hungarian mobile.

This is because currently, the best rate to the mobile on niftylist is 6p per min, however it seems to be permanently overstretched, and the next one is 7p per min. It's only pennies, but they all add up.

As an alternative, i've tried using a UK mob access number to connect to the 07744 cross network numbers. But it doen't work. There must be some sort of electronic block.

Its not possible to access 0871 numbers through a dial through or short code cheap call company. Be it by an NGN no  or a 07744 number.Neither is it posible to access an 0844 number in the same manner.It only works with 0845/0870 and freephone numbers.

My searches were giving me the same answer. However there is normally an alternative somewhere to get around most things, so I thought I'd give it a try. There's no harm in asking (politely, is that not correct johnny debt!!).

If anyone has a better rate than 6p per min for an Hungarian mobile, or a better way to contact it,short of flying there and using the local service, it would be appreciated

Well if their is a solution i would love to hear it as well. The thought occurs to me though how would a provider make any money if he offered cheap calls to 0871?

Hi, If you join www.call18185.co.uk calls at peak time to 0871 numbers are 4p, this is half the BT rate and uncludes VAT.

Don't think so - you're thinking of their weekday price for 0870 calls (I don't think they carry 0871 calls at all).

And there are lots (over fourteen when I stopped counting) of charge rates in 0871.
