Title: This site is the best ever tool on the net!!!!! Post by gtz101 on Apr 23rd, 2006 at 3:02pm
This site has saved me at least £150 to date on calls that I would have made on non geographical numbers. This is the best site in the UK.
It is very useful indeed. Only one possible suggesstion...... Why is it not possible to copy and paste text in the search facility box? (It could make things easier) The GUI could be improved further but at the end of the day it does the main job that most people come here for. Thanks Dave, DaveM, bbc_uk |

Hi gtz101,
I've moved your post to 'site related' section. Thank you also goes to Daniel (site admin) and other forum members for finding geo numbers, and the helpful posts/research, etc. If you are referring to the search results screen, you can still copy/paste using the Ctrl-C (copy) and then Ctrl-V (paste) where you want it. See this thread for little more info. |

It's unfortunate that this issue still hasn't been addrsesed by the site admin. It would only take a few seconds to remove the pointless javascript that tries to stop right-clicking. I know there are other ways to paste, but that's not the point - if people are used to right-clicking, all this does is make the search facility less usable.

I agree! I was referred to your site by a post on the http://Cockersonline.co.uk forum, and I have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of information available.
Just one small suggestion: Would you consider making your database available for download? It's not always convenient to access the Internet, and I believe it would be beneficial to many users to have this information available in a static form on PDAs, smart phones, and other such devices. |

This has also been discussed before, and the answer is that Daniel "owns" the copyright on the database and won't make it available for download them (because then you wouldn't click on any adverts). I have suggested a WAP version, which would be easy to implement using the same database, but that hasn't appeared either. The site hasn't really been developed since it first appeared, with the exception of the fairly recent upgrade of the YaBB forum software.

Hmmm if the issue is money-related, how about selling a copy of the database for a fiver (say) per download. At the end of the day, it's going to drive more and more people to the tool, as the news spreads.

The problem with that is it's a live database, so you need to update it regularly. Would you pay five pounds each time you update? A WAP interface would mean you're always using the latest database.

Personally, I would find it worth £5 once in a while to have a static copy of this database. I cannot speak for anyone else, obviously.
Wap is another option, but like Internet, is not always available, and not always very quick! Also you mentioned that the website hasn't received much in the way of development since it started, so I assumed that the resource needed to programme a wap version was not readily available either. |
