I'm sure voipstunt has recently added this line

http://www.voipstunt.com/en/rates.html
100% Free, no call setup! Max 20hrs per month of free calls. Click here for more info. For all other rates, click here
But they only charge 3p connection.

18185 don't appear to have that restriction, yet, and still only charge 4p connection.

1899 only charge 3p connection, too.

Its hard to figure why they are now charging 5p per call with 18866 when this was originally their cheapest 1p per call brand.  Yet 1899 remains at 3p per call.

I wonder if in fact the different Finarea brands are in fact franchises being marketed by different people?  On the whole that seems unlikely but why would Finarea be trying to kill a brand they originally marketed to the most price sensitive of their customers?  Prices on 18185 seem to remain very stable and both 0870 and mobile calls with 18185 continue to offer excellent value.

I suspect that 1899 will increase their prices shortly as I can't see how these prices can be sustained when they have to pay out to the teleco your calls so much (it is less than 1p but they still have to pay it out of only 3p per call).

Not that I'm moaning like but still wonder how they can make a profit.

3p-1p=2p so that would be 200% profit per call? :-/

Of course I believe in practice that Finarea do possibly also pay a time related charge too as well as a connection fee but although some calls last 70 minutes there are so many that only last just a few seconds (answerphone or 1571 answering) that the average call length is not that long.

For some reason they simply seem to want to kill off 18866 though and force everyone to migrate to 1899 or 18185 although I still haven't really figured out why. :-/

Perhaps though they are worried about the 118866 possible misdial directory ripoff although if that is the case then why don't they simply close 18866 down?

They do pay a time related charge (per min) and they have still have to pay BT for allowing us to access them on their short codes as well.

They probably do hope that most calls are only a few minutes which is probably true except for when women call?   ;D

Apparently Alexander Grahem Bell had to wait an hour before he could show the phone off to the world  'cause his wife was already on it to her friend to tell her about the latest dress down at Ye Olde Shoppe ;D

On the bottom of an e-mail 'Tony' at 18866 has sent out it states "Please note: from the 22nd of June calls via 18866 will be billed per minute."  :o

Received the same email, can't find the per minute rates anywhere on their website. UK still listed as 0p/min. Called a UK landline and message says "zero p per minute"

Confused

It means the'll charge per minute for chargeable calls (i.e. all except 01 and 02 numbers).

Would you not be better off switching to 1899 at 3p a call  for UK 01/02 calls, instead of 5p with 18866.

But don't they already charge per minute anyhow for other calls except 01 & 02?  If so, why that note at the bottom of the email and why have today's date on it?

Don't think so.  Certainly, 18185 still charge by the second:

14/06/2006      15:54:17      18185-0018003775545      00:00:10      0.0408

That's 4p connection and £0.0008 for 10 seconds to the USA.
