Title: Abbey - Cisco phone number 055 Post by lompos on May 15th, 2006 at 2:03pm
I have been given the telephone number of an Abbey branch (London, Moorgate) as 05511430002 and have been told that they are on the Cisco system.
Q1: would there be a BT acces number, geog. or otherwise? Q2: how are 0551.... numbers charged? BT gives 00551 (note 00!) as i15 price band and it is listed as an internet call. |

Thanks a lot.
When I asked the Abbey staff member who gave me the number she of course said that it was "normal" rate. |

So much for the idea of transparent tariffing so that 05X (with the exception of 0500) should be the same as geographic calls.
What a squalid arrangement. :( |

a very nice man, the link you have provided is for BT non-discounted tariffs such as Light User Scheme. These numbers are eligible for 'discount'. This page is for BT Together Option 1. On there it says that g21 is charged the same as geographical calls. Pricing information for all BT Together Options is here. I notice that g21 doesn't get a mention within the Pricing Information for Option 2 and 3. So I assume that Option 1's pricing applies to all Together Options. See here for more information on BT's clear as mud Price List. ;) |

There are several numbers in the database for Abbey branches beginning 05511 430xxx. Perhaps someone with a little time on their hands could ring through them all and find out which branch each on is for. At least all branches nationally are more than likely going to have consecutive numbering.
If you do, please post the results on here rather than entering them in the database. That way I know who's found them. |

Title: Re: 05 number needed for Abbey bank Camden High St Post by Dave on Dec 3rd, 2007 at 3:49pm All Abbey's numbers appear to start 05511 430xxx. I was wondering how they've allocated them and whether it would yield clues. For example, are the earliest numbers (ie 430000, 430001 etc) allocated to post code AA1 and so on?? Or is it in order of area or town name? Or perhaps it's related to the sort code. What is the sort code for this branch? |

I know each branch has (or had - not been a customer of theirs for ten years) a single 4 digit id number - it was printed on my savings account passbook as the location of the transaction. It would make sense for them to use that. Unfortunately I can't find a list of them to check against the numbers above..

I checked with Virgin Media and they charge the same as 0845 at 7p connection and 5p minute so the 05511 number is not cheaper

This is another example of Virgin Media putting a mark-up on numbers. If BT can charge for 05511 43 inline with 01/02/03 calls, then why can't Virgin? |
