Title: Welcome Finance
Post by DinoT on May 28th, 2006 at 2:00pm
Hi all
Am looking for alternative numbers to 0870 0001323 and 0870 0001326 for Welcome Finance in Hull. Have searched Google (Web) and the forums to no avail.

Currently, we're paying around £200 per month calling these characters (commercial use), who refuse point blank to give up their geographic equivalent numbers.

We have 01482 645758 and 01482 645 005 for two departmental fax numbers, if that helps?!

Any help very much appreciated.
Cheers
Dino - GCF

Maybe they can deal with your query, or connect you.

There is another branch listed here   http://www.creditconnectuk.com/terms_and_conditions.aspx  & 192.com that I can't find a number for.

Hi.  Thanks for the response - much appreciated.  Unfortunately, it's the Saxon Way address we need geographic numbers for.  The 0870 numbers originally posted relate to two departments within the Head Office.

Any further ideas/tips...?

They don't use the name Welcome Finance for Hull. That doesn't help to find them.

Hello again.  Welcome Finance Head Office is in Saxon Way, Hull.  The geographic numbers for the main building all have the 01482 STD code - we know this as we have some fax and landline numbers already.  The issue is that the firm refuses to divulge department numbers - we can't even tease the main switchboard number.

I guess if we could get that, we could work our way through the business sections - they're probably all on DDIs.  The difficulty is that the BT number is not disclosed and all the other numbers publicised seem to be the retail branches or other disconnected businesses.

As ever, any further help is hugely appreciated ... :-)

Are those numbers 01482 645758 and 01482 645 005 that you mentioned in the OP the only ones you have? Do you have some more?

Have you tried obvious ones like 01482 645000 [might be switchboard]? I guess the DDIs begin 01482 645xxx

They want the direct line so they don't have to pay to phone your rip-off 0870 numbers.

I, myself, would never touch Welcome Finance with a barge poll.  :)

As mentioned by LeeUK, the many, many visitors and forum members of this site don't like to being ripped-off by paying anywhere from around 8p/min (daytime from a BT landline) to upto 40p/min from a mobile to call an 0870.

Some things you need to know about 0870 numbers:-
  • They are NOT a national rate number as they cost significantly more and it misleading to state that they are.
  • They cost from around 8p/min (daytime from a BT landline) and upto 40p/min (from a mobile) to call.
  • They are not included in most inclusive call plans us consumers may have.
  • The company using them receive revenue of upto 4p/min for every minute we're on the phone to companies using 0870.
The same applies to 0844 and 0871 numbers but to a slightly less scale.  0871 numbers on the other hand are even more expensive than 0870 and earn the company using them even more money than using 0870 alone.

Therefore they are a stealth premium rate number (as companies get money from the call).  Most consumers associate premium rate numbers as numbers beginning 09x which is why many companies and government departments use 0870 because it allows them to gain money from the call without (in most cases) the caller knowing about it.  Some government departments admit to receiving thousands of pounds in revenue from us consumers ringing them on their 0870.

In most cases, your telecom manager (or boss) is aware of the revenue they are getting so therefore don't care that much how much the calls cost because they are receiving all this extra income from customers ringing them and being held in a queue.

Oh right well I was unaware that we do have a 01482 number for the section(Nationals) that Dino for GCF wants. But they really should instead of an 0870 number!Especially if there Brokers are paying a fortune just to call them!
