Some time ago I found that someone had posted a number for cheap calls to mobiles in France (I think it was about 6 p per minute) Unfortunately I have mislaid tha information and would be very grateful if someone could let me have it again

www.cheapcallguide.co.uk and http://callchecker.moneysavingexpert.com/ are also pretty useful reference sources. |

If you are calling from a mobile yourself, on Orange, T-mobile or Virgin, then some of the 07744 providers can be used from your inclusive minutes to reach several European mobiles
Also, easyMobile is interesting for 07744 as they seem to be giving away tons of free credit and calls all the time |

T-Mobile doesn't allow 07744 numbers to be included within the inclusive minutes allowance if you have x-network minutes. I'm not sure about orange. I think they started trying to charge, then changed their minds. And as for virgin, again, I'm not sure. O2 have recently stopped allowing 07744 numbers to be called from inclusive x-network minutes, and now these cost 25p per minute. Vodafone, and 3 both charge for these calls, but not sure at what rate. I think 07744 numbers have had their day. It's only a matter of time before Easymobile get wind to the fact that 07744 is more expensive than other mobile networks, and most of the other mainstream operators charge more and don't allow minutes from the inclusive minutes to be used to make the calls. |

Slight amendment to Shiggaddi's post.
Yesterday 27/06/06 I received an email from simplyfone, the news is that T-mobile DO now support the 07744 service. So Orange, T-mobile & O2 users can use the service. At the risk of editing by an administrator, I offer the number assigned to me for you to use. It is 07744 974 354. If these 2 lines are deleted, for forum etiquette, I understand. |

Presumably this 07744 number has not been specially created for just your personal use? ;) If it began 070 I would be more prepared to believe that it was uniquely assigned to only your good self. ::) |

OK, perhaps a better way of phrasing it should have been.........
I took on the number as an agent for simplyfone with a view to promoting it enough that I would make some money off the back of it. However, it needs lots of promoting, and I have had other things to do. But if people here would like to use it, it is no different to any other simplyfone number, except in this circumstance I am the benefactor to a level of points of a pence per min. Then perhaps if I see an income then I might get around to promoting it harder. So I will say outright, you using the number may be providing me a very minor income, but if not me, then it would be someone else. So please be nice to a nice man ;) |

Oh dear veryniceman now they may feel they have to delete it after all. You should just have given the number and appeared as though you were simply being helpful and nobody would have thought anything of it. ;) Mind you I don't really see how Daniel can complain given the number of very dodgy ad banners he has on occasion allowed to appear on this website. :o |

I have just received a text on my O2 phone saying that T-Mobile will now allow the use of 07744 numbers. This is good news, as I have a T-Mobile with 200 minutes a month, which I will use to call my just dial number!!
And the T-Mobile is on an 18 month contract with 18 months free line rental!! The text prompted me to look here, and see if anyone else had said anything about 07744, especially since I said yesterday that T-Mobile don't allow these calls!! The text did say to check with T-Mobile first though. |

IF YOU'RE ON O2 YOU NEED TO READ THIS.
Friday 30 June 06 Received a letter from O2 today. Quote The cost of calls to 07744 & 07755 numbers is changing. From 1 July 2006 there will be a small change to the conditions of your mobile service. If you call a non-standard rate number that begins with 07744 or 07755 from your O2 mobile, it will no longer be included in your monthly minute allowance. Instead, it will always be charged at a flat rate of 25p a minute (inc. VAT). Hopefully that explains everything, but if you would like more information, please go to o2.co.uk/terms/o2calling plans ********** End Quote *************** To save ink they didn't even put the www on their address. So read it and weep my friends, the cheap alternative is coming to an end. |

I am surprised as a SF agent you were not aware of this.It has been discussed around the net since May.Have you not looked at the Niftylist site recently. ;)

Thanks for all the late news that T-mobile have introduced this facility, but I think I mentioned it more promptly. And as the providers of the numbers have started selling mobile contracts on Orange and T-mobile, maybe their demise is not so imminent.
May I please point out that the title of this thread is Calling mobiles overseas, and the OP specifically mentioned France. So perhaps the gratuitous posting of S-F affiliate numbers is neither helpful or relevant, as they do not provide this destination anyway, or many other mobiles either. Try other providers. |

Someone mentioned cheapcallguide.co.uk - this website was scraping price lists from another comparison site loiol.co.uk >:( and now seems their 'comparison list' is few month old with wrong numbers and prices... ;D
so just to make it clear - comparison websites for international calls with prices and numbers updated every day are: http://callchecker.moneysavingexpert.com http://www.loiol.co.uk http://www.niftylist.co.uk http://www.cheapestinternationalcalls.com and many more with not so much everyday updates 8-) |

Thanks for the warning about CheapCallGuide.
The last time I checked NiftyList it also no longer appeared to be being kept up to date. The others you mention are all excelllent though. |

I find Martin Lewis's UK Callchecker much easier to interrogate (2p/minute from a BT landline to a UK mobile at weekends too).
His International Callchecker is very easy to use as well. |
