dvd shop online ltd 0870 9101122 0151 2206600 company address-180 Prescot Road,Fairfield Liverpool, Merseyside, L7 0JD
This is the information in the Unchecked numbers list - but I don't think it's correct. When you dial the 0870 number it goes through to a "One of our agents will be with you shortly" message; when you dial the 0151 number it just rings and rings Regards Jack |

The website address is: www.dvdshoponline.co.uk
The contact page gives: Quote:
A search of 192.com for businesses with L7 0JD post code reveals one company at 180 Prescot Road: POSEIDON FISHERIES LTD, tel 0151 220 9994. A search of 192.com for businesses with L15 8HQ post code reveals that DVD Shop Online Ltd resides there, but there is no telephone number for that entry. It also shows that Aabyss Computers Ltd is based there, tel: 0151 733 3223, ]www.aabyss.co.uk The company also gets a mention on BenQ's site here. There is a fax number 0151 2206700. Googling the number in the database (0151 2206600) brings up nothing. It may be that this number is correct and that the 0870 number answers with a message whilst it is ringing the 0151 number. :-/ Numbers beginning 0151 220 are on Stoneycroft, Old Swan, West Derby exchange and most nearby numbers in Prescot Road also appear to be on that exchange. 0151 733 numbers are on Sefton Park, Wavertree exchange, as are neighbouring businesses. What this means is that 0151 220 numbers will probably be at the Prescot Road address and 0151 733 at the Wavertree address. The fax appears to be at Wavertree, so I would be inclined to try the Aabyss Computers number, although the 0870 number could be answered at any address (if it's answered at all!) |

Thanks Dave
I tried the number for Abyss - 0151 733 3223 and got through to what seems to be the head office - it looks as if Abyss owns DVD Shop Online. You can press 1 for the shop, 2 for business enquiries, etc Many thanks Jack |

Hello Say No To 0870
After becoming aware of your campaign and reading this thread, realising ourselves just how annoying 0870 numbers are, we have decided to drop them and have replaced all our lines with local rate 0845 numbers. Sorry for bumping an old thread, just thought we would let you know. Regards, DVD Shop Online. |

Why not use a 0151 number? 0845 are NOT local rate |

We used an 0151 number between 1999 and 2004, during this time many customers would call asking if we only supplied in the Liverpool/Mersyside area. This is not ideal for an internet trader with national coverage. The perception is that an 0845 or 0870 number implies national coverage and this is what we wish to project for our business. On a typical BT tariff at peak times the number now costs only 0.95 pence per minute more than if it were a peak time call to the geographical number and this increased cost all goes to BT, we no longer make any profit from incoming phone calls whatsoever and it will remain that way. Ideally we would use a number that costs exactly the same as a geogphical one yet implies national coverage in the way 0845 and 0870 does. If you are aware of such a service please let us know. Many consumers, your customers, will have an inclusive plan that allows geographical calls to be called for free. Most telephone providers dont include calls to 084x/087x because they cost more than a geographical call. Quote:
How about in the interim, you display on your website both your 0845 and 0151 number? That way the customer can choose which number to ring and you wouldn't be given a negative impact as such. I use the word negative impact because not so long ago there was some stories in the newspapers about 0845 and the fact that money can be earned from them. BA was shamed into admitting it received money from their lost luggage 0845 number and after the newspaper story quickly changed to a freephone number. Also, government departments have been criticised in the newspapers for earning money on their 0845 (and 0870) numbers. Although you don't earn money there is still the potential that once more and more people realise that 084x/087x numbers cost more than local/national rate and in most cases the company called earns money, then you could lose some customers due to them thinking you have one of these numbers just to earn money. I do agree you have a hard choice to make to try and maintain that you have a national presence but without specifically choosing numbers which WILL cost your customers more to ring but I would hope you could in the interim consider displaying both your 0845 and your real 0151 on your website. |

Hello DVD Shop Online,
Firstly, 0845 is not local rate and shouldn't be described as such. The issues that surround 0870 also are apparent with 0845, it's just that 0845 costs less than 0870. In the next year this will change and 0870 will be reduced to geographical rates, but 0845 will be left as is. As has been explained, a new prefix 03 will be introduced that will cost no more than a call to a geographical number, although I imagine that you may have to pay for incoming calls. I agree with bbb_uk that you should show both 0845 and 0151. What are the 0151 phone and fax numbers? |
