Title: SIP on linux (Ubuntu)
Post by nutellajunkie on Jul 19th, 2006 at 4:05pm
Ive been trying to setup my voip providers on Ubuntu for a wee while now. The problem is, I cant quite find the correct easy to use software that would allow me to enter their network details to make calls..

Has anyone been successfull on this task atall? I did a search but I cant see anyone mentioning it atall.

Thank you

I don't use Ubuntu, but I've just been setting up SIP myself. My current favourite software is Twinkle, and I'm about to try the latest version of Ekiga (formerly known as Gnomemeeting).

I've been trying it with sipgate.co.uk. The only problem is, Twinkle doesn't (at the moment) support the method of sending DTMF tones that sipgate require, so it makes accessing some services difficult. Whether this is a problem depends on your SIP provider.
