I have today received a orange live box for my broadband conection from orange. looking at the agreement it seems that i am signing up for 1 year.
also not sure how charges are made and they bang on about 0p cheap rate and weekends but not about charges rest of time. i use 18866 at the moment land lines and spain. will i still be able to use 18866 if i connect live box.any advise from someone using livebox please [smiley=dankk2.gif] |

The live box is to do with your BB. It does not affect your landline calls.
1899 is now cheaper then 18866 for uk landline calls. For cheaper calls to Spain see www.niftylist.co.uk |

To call Spain, and most of other international destinations, is cheapest by using those dial (call) through telecom companies, and you can check latest prices, besides niftylist, on other everyday updated websites for cheapest calls, like loiol, martin lewis tools and cheapestinternationalcalls.
Here are links to Spain: compare phone call prices to Spain on cheapestinternationalcalls compare phone calls to Spain on loiol compare calls on Martin Lewis callchecker choose the one you like most, all 4 have a quite different layout ;) |

There's one dial-through provider (Dialwise) offering a ½p/minute rate to Spanish landlines again.

You could use a company like Voipstunt. They are currently offering Spanish landlines for free.
If you don't want to or can't talk through your pc (lack of power, equipment etc) then you can use their callback service which will cost you about 1.5p for the connection to your landline. For a max of 60 mins. Effectively you will be able to have a 60 min call for 1.5p. It is the same for UK landlines. They do have a limit of 300 mins within a 7 day period. I regularly use this service for Hungary, and have only suffered two occasions of poor quality. www.voipstunt.com There are others. Just check to see who does the most amount of countries, that you require, for free. |

>:( 1899 are not much good.
Everytime that I try to sign up, I get an e-mail saying ... "Unfortunately your 1899 internet registration has failed. Due to lack of capacity it is currently not possible to register. Please wait at least 6 weeks before attempting to register again. Our apologies for the nconvenience." ... and it's been going on for months! |
Title: Re: cheap call providers Post by orsonkart on Aug 8th, 2006 at 10:25am
Thats because they have capacity problems in certain areas.
You can normally get round it. ;) Sign up again using a mobile number and once you get the email saying you are registered go back into your profile and add your landline number and all should be well. |

re voipstunt. Does it work with windows 98 or do you need XP?
|

:'( It does not work with Windows 98.
XP is OK and I think that it also works with 2000. |

Hmmmmm, 5 hours of calls per week :-? is that good? I remember there being other VoIP providers out there or is Voipstunt the only one to offer international destinations?

Well I did say like Voipstunt. It was a company I'm satisfied with and can offer an opinion of.
Of course there are others offering free calls to foreign destinations. It would appear that 5 hours within a 7 day period is now the norm. All of these offer Spain for free. VOIPCHEAP INTERNETCALLS.COM NETAPPEL VOIPCHEAP.COM VOIPSTUNT VOIPDISCOUNT SPARVOIP POIVY SIPDISCOUNT VOIPBUSTER FREECALL are all branches from the same tree, but with varying offers and prices. It pays to shop around if you do a lot of international calling. I have Word sheet showing all the free desinations that the above offer, and am currently working on the complete price list for all. If you want the free one, pm me with your address and I'll send it. |

In an effort to save you more money, and widen that smile, are you able to provide a breakdown of your calls?
Having had a quick look at the skype and vonage sites I'm sure we could do better for you. |

Do you have a stand alone broadband connection eg Cable ,or are you renting a BT line as well.If the latter the £7.99 Vonage package can normally be beaten cost wise by using a combo of 1899/18185/ and Primus Saver 2.Also unlike Vonage you dont pay when your away eg Holidays. £7.99 a month is equal to 266 Geographical Calls on 1899 . Normally these sort of 24/7 inclusive packages are only cost effective for heavy users. |
