Title: Are orange $h****€r than usual?
Post by rickuk80 on Aug 23rd, 2006 at 10:51am
Hi

I have just called orange after trying several times but giving up after being held in a queue for almost an hour with no reply. I have a fault handset (spv c550) and they are telling me that if I want to have it fixed I need to call an 0871 number at 25p per minute from my handset, which incidentally is within the 12 month warranty.

Secondly I have a line 2 number which I have used for years and asked them to convert this to pay as you go - which they have refused. If it was line 1 it would be OK, but as its line 2 - NO WAY.

Anyone know if having a premium rate number for a warranty helpline is legal? And secondly, am I not right in thinking that I own my telephone number and can port it out if I want to.

Cheers

Rick

UPDATE: and to make things worse - they are now closing the Peterlee call centre and have started moving billing enquiries to India!
