From the unverified listings:
  • 01792 766770 is listed as an alternative to the 0870 number you quote, but whoever put it there didn't say what department it is for.
  • 01792 761150 is reportedly for the Driver Medical Unit, appeals department.

Please let us know what you used and what works and what doesn't.  :)

Title: DVLA nos in database discontinued
Post by Barbara on Aug 8th, 2007 at 1:52pm
I have an urgent need for numbers for the DVLA, specifically Drivers Medical Advice.  The No in the database (01792 766770) now answers as for health professionals only and directs to an 0870 no.   The 01792 783071 no answers as discontinued and redirects to an 0870.   The 01792 782882 no tells me that my call cannot be answered to to high call volumes and to try again later!   I am not prepared to spend ages on a premium rate no for them so PLEASE can someone help me urgently with up to date tel nos.  ALso, the database needs updating to take account of the changes.   Thanks.

01792 782341  gives you a menu, press 1 for Driving licence enquiries, press 2 for Vehicle enquiries, hold for anything else

You can try that one

Thanks, tried that one & it did work (eventually) - just as well as I was on the phone for 25 minutes trying to argue logic & reason with a set of inflexible rules which take no account of circumstances.  I do think the database needs amending to take account of this & some upated nos found if possible.

Can you list the ones that no longer work Barbara? Did you try any others except the ones you mentioned above (and excluding the one provided by derrick). If that number is correct, can an admin update the entry for the DVLA with the new number please?

Hi, the ones I tried were the only ones, the one Derrick gave was the one on which I eventually made contact.   As I was trying to make contact with the Medical Group, some of the others were irrelevant eg those relating to vehicles not drivers.   I have the feeling, as those now discontinued I am sure I have used successfuly earlier this year, that the DVLA may be getting wise to this site and discontinuing certain nos hence I think we need to gather new ones which have been tested to try & stay one step ahead.   Due to the urgency of the matter I needed to discuss (and the distress and anxiety it was causing my son who is just out of hospital), speed was my priority.  I tried to stay on the phone to take part in their survey, as requested, and I had some suitably critical comments, but that system failed too!

I've removed the following numbers:

  • 01792 766770
  • 01792 783071 was given as a fax number in a verified entry for switchboard as alternative for [fax] 0870 8501285.

I'm unsure about 01792 782882, as it currently says that the office is closed, and may therefore work sometimes, so I'll leave it for now.

I've added the Driver's Medical Unit 0870 number to the entry for switchboard.
