Title: Premium Rate Tel No.s charged by Insurance Co.s Post by JNK on Oct 6th, 2006 at 8:17pm
Hi there folks. Here's to let you know about my new publication. It highlights all the Insurance Companies that use premium rate telephone numbers. The publication is exclusive to W H Smith and is called The Matthews Guide to Motor Insurance. It is on sale in all W H Smith stores nationwide at a special first edition price of £3.99.
Lots of people don't realise that they are actually paying more for their call and that the Insurance Companies are profiting at the same time. Some Insurance Companies offer a freephone number for the initial enquiry but then specify 0870 numbers for any queries thereafter. Happy reading and I hope you manage to save a few £'s. |

Forgive me if I have missed something obvious but we would be £3.99 worse off if we bought your publication. The alternative numbers for practically all the companies you mention are in fact listed on this website. ;) ::) I agree that many of your potential readers of a book about car insurance (especially if they have been dumb enough to pay £3.99 for the privilege) are precisely the sort of people to be hoodwinked by the great 084/7 numbers scam. But I doubt that would apply to many here who would tend to use www.confused.com and make their insurance purchase online. ;) |

Hi folks, sorry should have elaborated. Our Guide does highlight the 0870 numbers that Insurance Companies use but this is only part of the Guide. Our view is that the people using the 'saynoto0870' website are people who do not like to be taken advantage of and who like to hold on to their hard-earned cash. The Matthews Guide to Motor Insurance has actually helped people to save several hundred pounds on their motor insurance and it also covers APRs, courtesy cars, no claims bonus, explanation as to how Insurance Companies make their profits etc. etc. Regarding the comment by NonGeographicalMan regarding Confused.com, Confused.com are actually owned by Admiral. They are not independent and receive a commission from the Insurance Companies they quote. This is all contained in the Guide. We do feature Confused.com in our Guide as a useful tool but, don't forget, there are still many people who do not have internet access, or indeed, the confidence to use it. Our Guide contains details of Companies who work the same as Confused.com but who are totally independent and can be accessed by the telephone (usually freephone), as well as the internet. The Matthews Guide to Motor Insurance has been written by a panel of insurance advisors with over 50 years experience. It is an excellent buy at £3.99 and does save the average motorist over £100 on his motor insurance. W H Smith have taken the Guide exclusively and it has just gone on sale in the Magazine section, next to the Parkers Guide. Many thanks.
