Yes, it's just the way it's written. It can be written how you like, eg 0870 160 2040, 0870 1602040, 0870 16 02 04 0 and 08701602040. These are all the same number. Some companies write them with the spaces in different places to make it easier to read. The number you dial is still the same. |

Yes. BT have a standard charging regime for ALL BT Together customers for 0870 calls. The standard charge is now 7p/minute weekdays, 3.5p/minute evenings and 1.5p/minute weekends. For non-BT Together customers, different (higher weekday and evening) charges apply and there are also 4 specific number groups which are charged differently: 0870 09 0870 185 0870 187 and 0870 188 They are charged at 4.95p/minute weekdays, 2.95p/minute evenings and 2p/minute weekends. For a full list of BT charges for 'specialist' numbers, see http://www.downloads.bt.com/pricing/SpecialisedNos.pdf |

Hi Heinz,
I never noticed that BT had 'standardised' their 0870 rates not that I've never called a company with one of the very few 0870 that were cheaper during the daytime than normal 0870 numbers. |

No, it was not something I'd realised/noticed either - until I checked online in order to post that reply. It's very strange that only non-BT Together customers 'benefit' from the cheaper weekday and evening rates to those 4 number groups and that, also for non-BT Together customers, the weekend rate to those number groups is higher than to 'ordinary' 0870 numbers. As you say though, if you don't call them, it's of no consequence anyway! |
