I have a reservation with Travelodge, Manchester Airport for 22nd December and I need to contact them before I fly out. (I live in Spain). I am not able to access 0870 numbers from here. I have e-mailed them (8 days ago!) and had no reply. Is there anyone out there who can give me a 'proper' number please.
What is the matter with British business? Don't they want customers from abroad?

Based on the above I would try the number before the fax: 0161 903 8970

A search of 192.com doesn't even reveal an entry for that hotel with the 0870 number. A quick search using Google reveals nothing either. Perhaps it's a new hotel and the 0161 number has never been given out.

Please have look at the instructions for posting a request. Include any information you have that may help people on here to locate a number. Typically an address and website address are useful, and in this case they can be found on the Travelodge website.

Thank you 'very nice man', but I am sorry, I don't understand your reply. What is the 8970 you mention? And why doesn't it exist after 22.44.
Regarding the number Dave gave, that just gets me a tone which I don't recognise. ? un-obtainable.

In way of explanation:

The dialling code for the Manchester area is 0161. The hotel has a geographical fax number which is 0161 903 8971.  Numbers starting with 0870 are so called non-geographical numbers and they have an underlying geographical number. Usually the geographical telephone number is similar to the geographical fax number, sometimes the difference is only in the last digit, that is why Dave suggested to try 0161 903 8970. "A very nice man" tried it last night at 10.44 pm but it didn't work.

I would suggest:

a) send them a reminder email pointing out that you are unable to dial UK numbers starting with 870 from the phone in Spain you are using and ask them to let you know their geographical phone number.

b) print out your email and send it as a fax to +44 161 903 8971

Please let us know if any progress.

As a matter of fact nowadays UK 0870xxx numbers are generally accesible from abroad but you must not dial the "0".  For this hotel from abroad one should dial: +44 870 191 1680.

Thank you VERY much for the kind & helpful suggestions. However, I think that I now have to give up. Having tried & failed with Dave's suggestion I went to the Search for 'Travelodge' and found a 'proper' number for their Central Manchester hotel. I rang them & I asked if they had an alternative to the 0870 number for the Airport hotel. The young lady was SO helpful - she didn't have another number, but offered to call the Airport hotel and ask. I rang her back 10 minutes later & she had failed to get through - no-one was answering the phone. She had then sent them a fax asking for an alternative number. This was at 10am UK time. I have just rung her back (2pm UK time) and she not only has failed to get through to them on the 0870 number, but has had no reply to her fax either. She was most apologetic - as though it was her fault. I thanked her for all her trouble. As I said above, I think that I now have to give up - if she can't get through, what hope do I have. However, if they are this inefficient I wonder how I shall get on once I arrive! Many, many thanks to your Website for trying to help.

I have just had one more try before leaving home tomorrow, and SUCCESS!!!
I decided to try one figure AFTER the fax no. i.e. (+ 44) 161 9038972 - and it works! Got through on the 2nd ring. Will add the number to the Travelodge listings.
