Title: Numbers being dialled via modem Post by trudykoochitt on Dec 29th, 2006 at 2:05am
Hello
Great website! I wonder if anyone could possibly help with two numbers that have come up a lot on my BT bill and have been very expensive. Obviously they have been dialled from my modem but Bt can do nothing about it unless I have more information. i have tried all the tips on this site and would really appreciate any other suggestions. Thank you! |

Sorry -How stupid!! Completely forgot to put the numbers in. they are 0871 0101087 and 0871 0905930. BT have told me that they are cooected to some sort of electronic equipment and they can do nothing about ti. This happened last year and were tracked to a London company that did refund the (very expensive) call charges. I have downloaded the BT software to prevent interception but this was after these latest calls. Many thanks for the help on the website! Very helpful.

Perhaps this is the time to try to persuade Ofcom to have PTOs offer free barring of 087 etc?
OK, it made you smile (or grimace), but what else is the regulator for if not to protect the consumer? Better still that the default be opted out with opting in being only available in writing. Simple - and effective. |
