A little bit specialized this one.
IAM = Institute of Advanced Motorists and their orderline is 0870 062 5730. It's also automated and I'm far from assured that it's either secure or going to work. ~ Edit by Dave: Thread title amended |

Is this site of any use?

Thanks for the suggestion Crabtree but the merchandise there is limited to a few books and DVDs.
I contacted IAM in London who sent me a double-sided A4 catalogue with the number you see. I've left a message asking them to confirm the order. |

But Crabtree points to the IAM website, so how is this not relevant? :-? Quote:
Where in London, it is a big place? Why do the contact numbers on IAM's website not work, are they at different locations? |

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be obtuse.
The IAM website which Crabtree noted has a very limited e-shop and shows only a small amount of merchandise, (Books, DVDs etc.) so the link is relevant, but not ultimately useful. There is a link to a "members only shop" which simply doesn't work or takes you back to the basic e-shop. IAM house, Chiswick 0208 996 9600 deals with Institute matters, arranging the IAM test but not mechandise, all they will do is take your name and address and arrange a catalogue to be sent to you. Thereafter you are dealing with what appears to be a third party on 0870 062 5730, an "automated line" from which I still await any acknowledgement. |

Right, time for a letter to their CEO. I was a group secretary back in the early seventies and still do not expect them to support scammers. :(

What makes you think that it's a third party? |

I've just gone through all numbers from 020 8996 9600 through to 799. These belong to IAM and internal extensions are 3 digits. Those that may be of interest are:
020 8996 9500 through to 599 appears to belong to The Swan Centre and 020 8996 9800 answer as being conference call numbers (see here). |

1. There is no mention of IAM when you call just "welcome to our mail-order service" and you're asked to quote the organisation. 2. The fax number (which I've just hunted through Google) takes you to JEM Marketing, Tel: 01483 204481. Ring any bells with anyone? |

The website for JEM Marketing is ]www.j-e-m.com and the contact page is here. That number is given as a the phone number and not the fax. Fax is 01483 268889. A search of the Say no to 0870 Database for JEM Marketing finds one entry in the unverified listings and it is called "JEM Mail Order" and the geographical is 01483 268888, one below the fax. |

"JEM Mail Order" geographical = 01483 268888
Engaged a lot, put in a queue but answered by a human. Slightly surprised to receive a follow up call but order seems to have been processed OK. This seems one step nearer verfifying this number? Thanks for you help! |
