Does anyone know the geographical number of the Disability Rights Commission, Stratford upon Avon, CV37 9BR? The calls to this 08457 622 633 number are always lengthy and, therefore, costly. As a disabled lady, currently unemployed, I would like to use their helpline. Thanks.

I have just rung the disability hepline (which is free) to check this number and they do not have an alternative yet, but were very interested in the info that I gave them re these numbers not always being at the national rate. I am E-mailing their customer services dept with a copy of the letter sent to me by "Cruz" further on down this page under "jmear" because she inicated to me that this information shoul be more widely known.If it is helpful I do have the number of the Disability Law Service 0207 7919800.

Thank you so much for your information. I had searched high and low on google, ask.com, yell.com for an alternative number for the DRC but with no success. Thanks again and if any further information comes to light I'd be glad to know.

On 1 October 2007 the Equality & Human Rights Commission (EHRC) will take over the work of the Disability Rights Commission (DRC), the Commission for Racial Equality and the Equal Opportunities Commission, as well as enforcing equality legislation on age, religion or belief, sexual orientation or transgender status, and encouraging compliance with the Human Rights Act 1998. The DRC will therefore close for business on 30 September 2007.

It is interesting that they have a FREEPOST address but an 0845 phone number. Stratford upon Avon is likely to be just their central postal address for enquiries and may not be the location for the telephone helpline.

Apart from 0845 762 2633 a search on 192.com yielded the following geog numbers, all under Disability Rights Commission. I am not sure if their rebranding from 1 October will change any of the contact details:
