Useful Information & Say no to 0870! Hot Topics » Geographical (01/02) Vs 0845/0870 price comparison
Geographical (01/02) Vs 0845/0870 price comparison The difference between calling a geographical number starting with 01 or 02 such as 020 and 0113 and 0845/0870 is not exact as the rates vary between providers. I have researched the rates for geographical numbers and 0845 and 0870 numbers on some mainstream residential/personal packages. A link to the source webpage is available so that you can verify the information for yourself. This should provide useful to consumers and those organisations using or intending to use these numbers. If you have any comments on this page, including reporting any links that don't work or prices that are out-of-date, please post on the discussion thread here. If you know of another tariff that is not listed, let me know by posting on that thread. Please include a link to where pricing information may be found. This list is not intended to be a guide as to which telephone company and package you should use. To make it easier to read I have omitted reference to the following which vary by provider and number called:
Most packages charge the same for calls to geographical numbers which are a local or national call from the caller's location. These are shown as Geo in the No column. Those that have two separate rates are shown as Loc and Nat for local and national rates, respectively. Where 080x number rates are shown, they are relevant to all freephone prefixes which begin 0500, 0800 and 0808. Below are comparisons for:
