Is any kind soul familiar with 0871 666 1157 ? I got an ansa phone message asking me to call back to collect a message ! I'm now intrigued by who it might be and why call me. Tried the number on this site plus google (with double quotes) without success. I'm signed up to the TPS is it covered by this sort of thing ?

Crazy really but its gnawing away at me not knowing who it is.

One word SCAM !

Who it might be: Someone who can make money from 0871 number(s) by missed calling people.
Why?: Because when people call them back it makes them money. So please don't go calling them back!!!

There are quite a few other threads on here discussing these types of "services" that operate on our telephone system these days.

You had the good sense not to respond. While I don't know this particular number it is certainly a scheme to part you from your money. The only reason for wanting to know who they are is to report them to TPS. If there's only an occasional nuisance call from the UK I wouldn't worry about it. In theory TPS should protect you from this kind of thing but I suspect that this sort of scammer will always be one step ahead of any enforcement.

Just had a call from 0871 666 1807 - asking me to ring them back on the same number to "collect a message"

When are they going to wake up to the fact that people are getting wise to this scam?

Even the foreigners are in on it now.
Received a text from +20105996500 asking me to ring 0871 872 3819 as they have a message waiting for me.

Suffice to say I don't think the message will be important enough to collect.
