Does anyone know please of a Geographical telephone number to contact the department dealing with Work Visas at the South African High Commission in London. I have spoken to 3 people this morning and all, including the usual automated replies, referred me to the Premium Rate £1 per minute number 09065 540 798 for Visa services (FOREIGN CITIZENS)

No one from the Commission will answer emails and I resent paying £1 per minute just to make an appointment for my son to visit the South African High Commission to obtain a Work Visa.

A Public service, I don't think so!!

I don't think you will have much joy with this. It seems to be a very common occurrence now for various embassies. If you want a visa, they are going to make you pay for it!

It is also not just in the UK that this is done. I had reason to contact the US embassy in Canberra recently, and - you guessed it - a premium number! You even have to pay to make a web-based appointment to see them! I guess it sorts those who really want a visa from the 'tyre kickers'!
